Aviya, a respected member of the A. Lange & Söhne community, shares an updated look at his personal collection, highlighting a significant change that introduces both aesthetic and practical balance. His thoughtful analysis of movement complexity and dial symmetry offers valuable insights into the meticulous decision-making behind curating a high-horology collection. This update provides a compelling case study for collectors considering how new acquisitions can enhance the overall harmony and utility of their existing pieces.

Hello to all.

Here is a quick updated family photo. The change since my first post in January is the WG Lange 1 Moon Phase has replaced the RG 1815 three-hander.

Principally, this has introduced additional balance: I now have a WG piece to wear when more suited to do so in some business situations. I am also wearing the Lange 1 Moon Phase a lot at home which has been real good for me as it's increased my Lange wrist time over the span of a typical week.

There is some pleasing additional symmetry too: two black dials, two argenté. I'm also now diversified across three model families - and four very different calibers. And of course, whilst retaining all the Lange "DNA" elements, the L121.3 is also a step up in individual movement content and complexity: 438 parts and 4 complications.

So, I'm now going to go back into an extended phase of being grateful and happy with what I have.

Enjoy,  aviya.

About the A. Lange and Söhne Emil Lange Ref. 1815

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 reference 206.032, introduced in 1999, is a notable example of the brand's commitment to traditional watchmaking principles. This model is part of the 1815 collection, which pays homage to the birth year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange and emphasizes classic design elements such as Arabic numerals and blued hands, drawing inspiration from historical Lange pocket watches. It represents a more understated and purist aesthetic compared to some of the brand's more complex offerings, focusing on fundamental horological excellence.

This particular reference features an 18k rose gold case measuring 36mm in diameter and 7.5mm in thickness. It houses the manually wound L941.1 caliber, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the front, protecting a solid silver dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for immersion.

The 1815 206.032 appeals to collectors who appreciate classical proportions and a focus on fundamental watchmaking without excessive complications. Its smaller case size reflects a more traditional approach to men's wristwatches, making it a desirable piece for those seeking a discreet yet highly refined timepiece. The combination of rose gold and a silver dial offers a warm and legible presentation, consistent with the collection's historical inspirations.

The A&S Saxonia was the first watch I sold!!! And I didn’t know where the name come from: With its name, the SAXONIA refers to the state of Saxony, which within Germany has consistently been a powerhouse as regards technical progress. For instance, the first German steam locomotive, named SAXONIA, was built here in 1839
