Hi guys,

Finally pulled the trigger on my first Lange, after humming and hawing for some 7 years! It is not with me yet, but will be arriving within a week or so.

1. A Brief History:

First time I saw it was back in 2014 on the Lange YouTube channel. At that time there were very few watch related channels on YT (ArchieLuxury was probably the only one 😉), and Lange YT channel was also very new, with only 7-8 videos in it. When I first watched the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgbXUGMrSog) I didn’t really understand what I was looking at, as it was not like anything I had ever seen before. Then explored it further, and it was instant love from that point onwards, even before seeing it “in the metal”.

2. The Journey:

Tried very hard to talk myself out of it - too expensive, no AD nearby, no boutique in Canada etc. (wanted to buy new). Whenever I visited (out-of-province) ADs they never had it in stock. Despite all these, it found a permanent place in my subconscious. Created a separate folder on my computer and kept on adding nice pics of it from the web whenever I saw them. At this point it has some ~ 100 pictures and videos of this watch.

As it was slowly drifting away in the “dream” category, this summer I serendipitously got in touch with an extremely kind and helpful ALS boutique (US) which went out of their way to make the transaction as smooth and painless as possible. Apparently, such an international transaction was also new for this boutique and they had to get permission from the ALS NA president and figure out logistical details with Richemont Canada!!!

As it turns out this model is on the cusp of being updated, so I decided to pull the trigger on the old one, because despite its technical “shortcomings”, that’s the model I have been obsessed with all these years, and for what it’s worth, this is the original one that started it all.

3. Reaching the Goal (almost!):

Right now payments have been made, and the package is shipped. Hopefully it’ll appear within a week or so. I’m adding an “action” gif for now, based on a video clip I received from the boutique. Will post my own pictures once it arrives, and please post yours because I'm never tired of seeing pictures of this watch. Thanks for reading my crazy story!

During my research I dug up your original thread from 2009 and read it with great interest: www.watchprosite.com / It's quite entertaining to read some of the "predictions" made on that thread and compare them to the current situation!

There is a reason nobody else has been able to make something “truly” comparable after 11 years. It’s also a bargain for such a complex and unique piece. Huge congrats!

May I ask how did you post this photo? Big congratulations...it also took me many, many years to "jump" on a ZW.

I uploaded the gif to a photo hosting site (imgur in my case), and copy-pasted the html code in the message body. Standard photo upload won't work.

Always love hearing the story behind an acquisition, thank you for sharing. You must be anxiously awaiting its arrival. Do post lots of wrist shots when it finally arrives!

Not only they perfected the digit jump which used to be the main challenge, they introduced so many complications (date, striker, MR etc.) with it that they are the undisputed king in this category! And no other brand is even trying to compete in this category!
