Amanico shares a poignant reflection on his A. Lange & Söhne Langematik Anniversary, a platinum timepiece he cherished for its 37mm case, enamel dial with a red XII, and automatic movement. His narrative explores the deep emotional connection collectors form with their watches, especially when circumstances lead to their departure from a collection.

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 reference 206.032, introduced in 1999, is a notable example of the brand's commitment to traditional watchmaking principles. This model is part of the 1815 collection, which pays homage to the birth year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange and emphasizes classic design elements such as Arabic numerals and blued hands, drawing inspiration from historical Lange pocket watches. It represents a more understated and purist aesthetic compared to some of the brand's more complex offerings, focusing on fundamental horological excellence.
This particular reference features an 18k rose gold case measuring 36mm in diameter and 7.5mm in thickness. It houses the manually wound L941.1 caliber, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the front, protecting a solid silver dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for immersion.
The 1815 206.032 appeals to collectors who appreciate classical proportions and a focus on fundamental watchmaking without excessive complications. Its smaller case size reflects a more traditional approach to men's wristwatches, making it a desirable piece for those seeking a discreet yet highly refined timepiece. The combination of rose gold and a silver dial offers a warm and legible presentation, consistent with the collection's historical inspirations.
Definitely an extraordinary watch hidden behind so pure and elegant design. Like everyone here I am also following your posts with a big interest and discovering that we have similar tastes in some places especially as an owner of a Datograph, Grande Reverso Ultra thin Bleu and Lang & Heyne F III, besides some Patek Philippe references. And here in this post I see that one of my dreams ,VC Les historiques chronograph in salmon dial is also one of your your favorites. I was lucky enough to fi
indeed as you say, better to have lived than not!
For me, the Langematuk anniversary & the 1815 MO Emil Lange would be a superb duo. Absolutely brilliant piece 😍😍😍 And i hope you will find justice for this issue very soon, my friend 🙏🏾🙏🏾 Cheers
Bought it from a friend in Europe around 2002; he wore it once and put it away; didn’t like the red XII ( can you believe it!!) sold it to me at a significant discount from the original sale price. I guess that’s what they call a lucky break. It’s a keeper for next generation
One of the best looking watches ever produced. The red strap is a nice alternative to the black.
I like the red XII against the white, and the automatic, that makes a daily wear more practical. Great write up, and here’s still hoping with you that you’ll get yours back someday soon!
