This watch is so much more gorgeous when in the hand. Pictures just do not do it justice.

The movement is based on the Lange 1 Lumen, therefore it is based on the older Lange 1 movement, with its separate plates (islands).

The new Lange 1 in white gold with silver-white dial. Again, just stunning in the metal. This is a winner.

The new Lange 1 movement-no islands; balance repositioned. Like I said-a winner.

The Saxonia Moonphase in Rose. A perfectly proportioned dial.

The moon phase is an automatic.

Sylvia, left, who just assumed responsibility for Lange North America; Claudia, right, who hosted us (she new as much about watchmaking as all but a few of the watchmakers we met); and John from NYC, who's birthday it was today. A new friend who I hope to get join us PuristS guys. Sylvia and Claudia say "Hello, Fx"!

A few more-lagniappes- from the ride back to Dresden.

This castle is known as Weesenstein-White Stones. Weesen is an older form of weise.

So Lange really did it up nice. The tour covered all watch-making aspects. We got remembrances for our watches in the form of signed cards by the engraver(s) who etched out balance cocks. And a wonderful lunch. And the ability to look at (and TOUCH) every watch in the collection in the collection room this day. i think the only piece missing was the one I asked to see (of course lol), the 1815 Perpetual Rattrapante. But I did get to see it at the Dresden Boutique later.

To finish-I highly recommend the tour; and the watches, as many as you can afford!

Thanks for reading. Mike

About the A. Lange and Söhne Emil Lange Ref. 1815

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 reference 206.032, introduced in 1999, is a notable example of the brand's commitment to traditional watchmaking principles. This model is part of the 1815 collection, which pays homage to the birth year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange and emphasizes classic design elements such as Arabic numerals and blued hands, drawing inspiration from historical Lange pocket watches. It represents a more understated and purist aesthetic compared to some of the brand's more complex offerings, focusing on fundamental horological excellence.

This particular reference features an 18k rose gold case measuring 36mm in diameter and 7.5mm in thickness. It houses the manually wound L941.1 caliber, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the front, protecting a solid silver dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for immersion.

The 1815 206.032 appeals to collectors who appreciate classical proportions and a focus on fundamental watchmaking without excessive complications. Its smaller case size reflects a more traditional approach to men's wristwatches, making it a desirable piece for those seeking a discreet yet highly refined timepiece. The combination of rose gold and a silver dial offers a warm and legible presentation, consistent with the collection's historical inspirations.

It is in the mountains south of Dresden; about a 45 minute drive by car. The whole town is basically devoted to watchmaking, with at least 6 brands headquartered there.

Glashuette's linguistic meaning is: glas mill. Wilhelm Hauff, a German novelist from around the period of F.A. Lange actually, wrote a fairy tale called "The cold heart". In this tale the hero Peter is whishing from a magic dwarf to be the owner of a Glashuette, a gals mill. To Peter being the owner of a glas mill is a symbol of wealth and luck. This is why I love my piece from Glashuette so much. Best Moritz
