About the A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin Ref. 211.032

The Saxonia Thin represents A. Lange & Söhne's purest expression of classical German watchmaking, stripped of complications to showcase the brand's fundamental design philosophy. Introduced as part of the modern Saxonia collection that emerged following the company's 1990 resurrection, this watch pays homage to the dress watch tradition while establishing its own contemporary identity within Lange's portfolio.

Housed in a svelte 37mm rose gold case measuring just 5.9mm thick, the Saxonia Thin achieves its remarkable profile through the manually-wound L093.1 movement. The dial's restraint is deliberate—applied gold hour markers, blued steel hands, and the distinctive Lange typography create a composition that prioritizes legibility and proportion. The absence of a running seconds hand reinforces the watch's contemplative character, while the case proportions acknowledge modern preferences for more wearable dimensions.

Within Lange's hierarchy, the Saxonia Thin occupies a unique position as an accessible entry point to the brand's craftsmanship, though 'accessible' remains relative given the five-figure price point. The 37mm case size appeals to collectors seeking classical proportions, while the thin profile ensures versatility across formal and casual contexts. Production numbers remain limited compared to Swiss contemporaries, sustaining the model's exclusivity within the ultra-luxury segment where Lange competes directly with Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin.

This is one of the best timepieces

in the ALS catalog, imo. Absolutely exquisite. Perfect size. Great refinement and a 3/4 plate movement with apparent crown and ratchet wheels if I remember well. Best, Emmanuel

If you had one watch to choose from

would it be this or your Breguet 5177?!

the 38mm 5177

enamel dial, Breguet hands and numerals, is absolutely gorgeous, unfortunately, the Breguet lugs makes it wearing way too large on my tiny wrist.

Understood

Those long luds make the watch wear large. I believe the lug to lug is between 47 and 47.5mm ie each lug is 4.5mm to 4.75mm long which is too long. I have a small wrist too and the watch just about fits me because those straight long lugs are sloping downwards.
