Foversta provides an early look at A. Lange & Söhne's 2013 novelties from SIHH, offering initial impressions and wristshots before detailed reports. This post captures the immediate excitement and critical reception of key releases, including the highly anticipated Grande Complication and new iterations of the 1815 and Grand Lange 1.

I know that you are eagerly waiting for the reports to discover with more details the novelties. I'm just back from Geneva today with thousands of pictures to sort, to edit etc...

I propose you as a teaser my collection of wristshots of the 2013 novelties shot during the SIHH. I could shoot them all except the Grande Complication (pictures were not allowed) and the 1815 Rattrapante PC in PT.

I found the Lange  2013 collection really excellent:

- the 1815 up and down is a very attractive watch : power reserve indicator changes the dial lay-out and the watch becomes more spicy without losing its elegance.
- I was expecting a dark dial for the new Grand Lange 1: wishes come true!
- I already presented in details the Grand Lange 1 Lumen
- the Saxonia Automatic 38,5mm with set bezel is dedicated to men who want to wear a more precious wach: there is clearly a market for this kind of watch. I prefer the ladies version with MOP dial.
- the Saxonia Annual Calendar is now available in PT with a rhodiumed silver dial which makes it nicer than the WG version
- the 1815 Rattrapante PC is my fav watch of the whole SIHH: it is beautiful with a very legible dial and of course the movement is pure candy for the eyes.
- and... to be honest with you, I was expecting the presentation of the Grande Complication next year for the 20th anniversary of the first collection  or in 2015, 2 centuries after 1815. Lange created a huge (in any sense of the adjective) surprise. I could see it but not handle nor shoot it. This watch, especially thanks to the presence of the Grande Sonnerie and the combination of the complications, reinforces, if needed, the presence of Lange amongst the top Manufactures.

We will come back obviously about these watches during the upcoming weeks.

The Saxonia with set bezel:

The PT Saxonia Annual Calendar: these hands work much better than the blued hands in my point of view.

My fav watch of the SIHH. 41,9mm of perfection.

The Grand Lange 1 Black dial is watch I could consider to add into my collection. I don't know if it was due to the light conditions but the black of the dial almost looked like deep grey. Anyway, I like it.

The 1815 Up and Down is back in a new context. But be careful, this 39mm case is different from the 40mm case of the 1815 (look at the bezel). Power reserve is 72 hours and movement offers a totally different lay-out from  the movement of the 1815.

The Grand Lange 1 Lumen:

More to come later! In the meantime, don't hesitate to ask me for more pics.

Thanks a lot to the Lange team for the perfect welcome during the SIHH!

About the A. Lange and Söhne Emil Lange Ref. 1815

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 reference 206.032, introduced in 1999, is a notable example of the brand's commitment to traditional watchmaking principles. This model is part of the 1815 collection, which pays homage to the birth year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange and emphasizes classic design elements such as Arabic numerals and blued hands, drawing inspiration from historical Lange pocket watches. It represents a more understated and purist aesthetic compared to some of the brand's more complex offerings, focusing on fundamental horological excellence.

This particular reference features an 18k rose gold case measuring 36mm in diameter and 7.5mm in thickness. It houses the manually wound L941.1 caliber, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the front, protecting a solid silver dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for immersion.

The 1815 206.032 appeals to collectors who appreciate classical proportions and a focus on fundamental watchmaking without excessive complications. Its smaller case size reflects a more traditional approach to men's wristwatches, making it a desirable piece for those seeking a discreet yet highly refined timepiece. The combination of rose gold and a silver dial offers a warm and legible presentation, consistent with the collection's historical inspirations.

Lange was one of thev most interesting brand this year. The Grande Lange One, with the grey black dial, is a asuperb watch, as well as the 1815 QP Rattrapante, which is one of the winners, in my book. Not found of the Grande Complication as it is too big, way too big, but at least it is interesting. Nontheless, Lange certainly knows that keeping a Grande Complication is soem reasonnable and human size is THE real challenge. They failed, on this point, but at least they unveiled something interes

on a visual point of view. Nice moon phase but that's it. The dial has nothing really attractive. Maybe if they'd put the big date below "12". Don't know, just nothing really special about that dial, and it feels overcharged, but in a cold way. If only we could put that moonphase on the dato PC with the power reserve of the up/down, we'd have a real winner. The grand lange 1 feels like the real winner... and buyable! Thanks for the wirstshots, how you do it to take always the same quality shots

and the 1815 up and down are particularly nice. The "real" novelties are for the prestige (the grande comp) and to fill the offering (1815 split) on the high end spectrum. Nice is that there are quite some offerings also for the wider audience as the grande L1. Pretty watches, as always from Lange. Thanks for the first real pictures! Best Moritz

that is not ready - the Grand (or shall we call it Huge ) Complication ? Was it 50mm?! Would have been impressed if it would be wearable. The 1815 Rattrapante PC looks interesting - at least from what I could see in the showcase outside the booth.

an absolute marvel. Thank you FX for this shots, eager to see your reports ! From the different coverage I think Lange has done a great SIHH 2013 along with JLC, and Richard Mille. I also keep in mind Parmigiani with a beautiful Toric cathedral minute repeater. That said there is one thing which is for me not acceptable from Lange and I will be harsh on that one. Unveiling the Grande Complication without a single prototype ready or even partially working is a big mistake. That is completely unac
