DonCorson provides an insightful look into Laurent Ferrier's offerings at BaselWorld 2014, highlighting the brand's strategic consolidation and focus on design refinements rather than new movement developments. The post showcases several aesthetic enhancements, including improved legibility on the Microrotor and the introduction of more accessible printed dials, alongside Laurent Ferrier's debut in ladies' watchmaking.

BaselWorld 2014 - Laurent Ferrier

Laurent Ferrier is consolidating this year with no new movement developments.  The design developments, however, are very nice.  In January we have already seen the new Microrotor with white indexes and hands to improve the legibility.  Most of that improvement is certainly because the white color is posed on gold indexes and hands.

New for BaselWorld are the watches with simple printed dials.  These fit in very well with the Laurent Ferrier style and allow a welcome small reduction in price.

For his first adventure in the world of ladies watches Laurent Ferrier has redesigned the case to wrap the lugs around more to better fit smaller wrists and made very elaborate new engraved mother of pearl dials in three shades.  Very nice.

The new pieces for BaselWorld wind up with the tourbillon with a besel set with diamonds in invisible setting.  Note especially the lack of interruption between the diamonds and the saphire glass.  This piece has a majesty and fire that my pictures can unfortunately not reproduce.  As you know I am not such a big friend of diamonds, but this piece is really magnificent.

Any idea what the reduced prices on the new models might be? I have always wanted a Galet mirco rotor with its exquisite movement but the price was always on the high side. Thank you.

... in general, but think the hands are not "unique" enough - at least from what we are used to from Laurent Ferrier. Cheers, Oliver

I love those first 2-3 pieces. After? I am just shaking my head... Those "decorated" pieces almost devaluate the original offering. They are surely very well done but bling is bling and I cannot see the difference from watches that can be found in shoping malls... Why LF are going down that lane just baffles me.

numerals - isn't the '5' a tad small and looking odd?
