Dear Montblanc friends,
I have decided to post a new review of my Montblanc Nicolas Riussec Rising Hours Chronograph in Rose Gold.

One of the interesting aspect of the passion for watches is thinking back and reliving  the moments of an important and much loved purchase.

Another peculiar element of building a collection is understanding if a particular purchase was a good fit (and received enough wrist time) or if it didn't live up
to the initial expectations.

I am happy to report that the Montblanc Nicolas Riussec rising hours is still one of my most loved watches and I am happy to share some further photos (old and new)

The beauty and very distinctive DNA of all the Riussec Rising Hours is in my opinion much amplified by the unique and patented rising hours complication.
Unlike a "jump hours" watch the rising hours moves slowly making the hours literally rising in this transition. This feature also includes a second disk for the colour: during the day
the hours will appear in black to then move at 6PM to blue.

The silver coloured dial is impeccably finished with  a "grain d'orge" guilloché  that adds a classic look to the watch.
The minutes hands is skeletonised and highly legible. Unlike other models this one includes the day function too so in essence you have a day-date chronograph with a unique
rising hours feature.

As you can see I have always been a big fan of Montblanc writing instruments. Initially (and probably like many) I wasn't that interest in Montblanc watches as I wasn't aware of the processes
in this area and the manufacture movements.  Given that the brand is not yet very famous among watch collectors there is a lot of value for this watch.

I love the fact that it has the unique rising hours feature  and that really helps on going back and wear it very often.

Montblanc also produces excellent bags like this one that I acquired with the watch.

Here a photo with sunlight where the guilloche shines with a 3D effect!

Here you can see the transition from day to night where the blue disk will then be under the night hours.

Clasp and strap

Monblanc produces also some very nice rose gold cufflinks. These are not particularly linked to the watch but I use them as a good match: same metal of the watch and the montblanc star in diamond.

Here are three Nicolas Rieussec at the local Montblanc boutique.

In conclusion the Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Rising Hours is a fantastic watch.  Powered by the manufacture MBR 220 caliber it retains
classic and distinctive looking monopusher chronograph with an added unique feature of the rising hours.

At 43 mm and 15.30 mm height it might not be a good fit for everyone and I feel that the sizing might be the only real issue with this watch (I don't have a big
wrist but thanks to the lugs is pretty wearable). There is a lot of value for the money in this watch and the rising hours makes it never boring or redundant in my collection.

If you are considering a  Montblanc watch and sizing isn't an issue a Nicolas Rieussec will not disappoint.

I enjoyed reading it, thank you Great pics too and you have very nice complimentary Montblanc accessories including cufflinks and leather products I like the Nicolas Rieussec collection as you could tell from my various posts. They are a tad big for my small wrist though (my wrist size is 6.3 inches roughly so it\'s below average for a gentleman for sure). Of the Nicolas Rieussec series, design wise I like the Homage to NR and the Rising Hour (also for its technical design with the rising hour a

This is always very interesting to read owners' feelings on a watch. The pros, the cons, the details. Like you, I have the strong feeling that, with the Rieussec, Montblanc has a clear winner. It is such a strong product in the good sense. Strong personality, I mean. Best, Nicolas

This was a good read and it looks very attractive. Does anyone know if the pattern on the dial was stamped or a traditional rose engine was used? (I also find myself wondering about this with JLC Reversos.) Best E.

Hi E I checked with my contact in MB and the guilloche patterns on the Nicolas Rieussec are stamped on the dial. The engine turned ones are on the high end pieces from the Villeret collection (engine turned on solid gold dials). Cheers Robin

I assumed so from the pictures, but wanted to check. What is really amazing is that you checked for us on a Saturday...and got a reply straight away! Thank you and thanks to MB for honest and speedy responses. Best E.
