Hi all,

Kindly help me identify this Ranchero. The dial diameter is 30mm.

The watch looks pretty worn out and needs a good watchmaker's attention. But first I need the experts to certify this is a real genuine Ranchero. I am allowed to keep this watch with me for 2 days for scrutiny.

Here are the pictures.

Thank you in advance.

Best

Edward

cannot issue certificates, but .....

... to me looks pretty OK, although through an intense life. The movement serial number goes with approx. 1960, which is in keeping with the production dates. Many parts of this movement can be easily found. Hands and dial seem good to me. Case is like mine and has the correct inside markings, and the "waterproof" only outside. The crown is wrong, far too thick, it should be a gently domed one. You can easily obtain an extract from the Omega archives, which will confirm that the movement belongs

Thank you Franco...

For your assessment and for the details from the Archives. Yes this watch desperately needs a right owner to give it the love and care it deserve. I hope I succeed. Thank you once again for your valuable input. Ed

yes, seconded, franco. nice example......

i´d fix the movement problems ( there will be rust under the plates....) & remove the black luminous remains from the markers ( they will have attributed to the poor state of the dial) & relume the hands with a greyish looking lume. different crown & slight case polish & new crystal and it´s good to go. these tasks might cost you around $ 500. try to factor that into your buying price, if possible. this model is not overly expensive to start with.... i´d go for it, because most rancheros have be

Do you happen to know...

Hi Achim, I have seen these custom hallmarks several times but could not determine what they show - do you happen to know? Do you know if Spain used these custom "punches" too? I bought a watch from a Spanish dealer which had a hallmark on one lug - but maybe the watch was sold in Portugal and he "imported it to Spain... regards erich
