About the Omega Seamaster Ref. Seamaster120

The OMEGA Seamaster 120, reference 135.027, was introduced to the general public in 1967, following a limited release in 1966. Positioned as a robust dive watch, it offered a more accessible alternative to the professional-grade Seamaster 300, while still providing significant water resistance for recreational diving.

This model features a 37mm barrel-shaped stainless steel case, manufactured by EPSA, with polished lugs and a screw-down case back adorned with a chemically engraved Hippocampus logo and "SEAMASTER 120 WATERPROOF" text. It is powered by the manual-wind OMEGA Caliber 601, a no-date movement. The watch is fitted with a reinforced plexiglass crystal and a bi-directional serrated bezel with a 0 to 60 scale and a luminous pip at zero. The matt black dial displays white text, white minute circle strokes, tritium baton hands, and luminous hour markers. Initially rated for 120 meters of water resistance, later models from 1968/69 saw this reduced to 60 meters.

For collectors, the Seamaster 120 reference 135.027 represents a significant piece of OMEGA's dive watch history. Its distinct design, manual-wind movement, and specific case construction make it a sought-after vintage piece. However, due to the challenges of sourcing original parts, collectors must exercise diligence in verifying authenticity, particularly concerning the dial, bezel, and movement serial numbers.
