Watches4ever's original post from 2015 offers a first look at the then-new Panerai PAM 630 and PAM 632, positioned as potential entry-level replacements for the PAM 114, 000, and 005. This article revisits his initial impressions and the community's immediate reactions to these models, particularly focusing on design changes and their perceived impact on Panerai's brand direction. Watches4ever provides a detailed comparison with existing models, highlighting key differences that sparked considerable discussion among collectors.

Walking into HK Prince's Building Panerai Boutique late Saturday afternoon and was immediately shown the two latest Panerai that didn't appeared during Watches & Wonders last month, both entry level Pam 630 with a white dial just like the now discontinued Pam 114 with a blue OP logo and the Pam 632, identical to 005 except with a brown dial and gold-edged hands like the 390. Looking at the price tag, they are similar in price to Zero and Five. I was told these two will be boutique exclusive and if I wanted, I could take both home, and that's exactly what I did. With similarities to zero and five, I wouldn't be surprise if they are their replacement but then I am not in the authority to say so. The biggest difference I observed, the case back is now snap back type, not screwed in, and to replace the strap, the lug pins are spring-loaded, no need to use a screwdriver. The box doesn't come with a rubber strap for the 632. Since they are so new in HK, I took both home, and thereby making a photo-shoot of each against what I have...

I only do not understand why they made these watches. They are cheaper but the quality is less a snap back is unacceptable for a diver watch, they always used screwed in backs and there is no reason to change that I thought they wanted to go all the way and be a 100% manufacture, last years we only got watches with inhouse movements, this is an ETA again I don't have any problem with an ETA but it is strange they choose the other direction again Case and bezel are 1 'block' they used to be 2 dif

I don't particularly like themt but I'm sure they will sell. Some will become..icons..years down the road, others will simply...fade away...

Entry level??? Not sure where the strategy is going but too much dilution will not help. I don't think they will win any fans - snap back and spring bars??? Bill

I don\'t really see the new models as replacements...if they are, they aren\'t in the spirit of 000, or 005. I think the lack of a screw on back is deal breaker for me. I actually think that the springbars are just fine...I have chewed up my screws and screwholes and lugs with screwdirvers. I have considered getting springbars for my zero...a few vendors sell them and they have slots on one side to emulate the screw. I think that the new models are a way to phase out the lower end models, but th
