I always loved the big Radiomirs with the wire lugs, such as the California PAM 249 or the 232. This one is in this vain.

The 721 shares with the 249 one thing: The absence of any writing on the dial which we will call " Sterile ".

The size of the case, too: 47 mm. Last common point: The blued hands, " sector " for the hours hand.

A watch with a lot of charm and presence, a true Panerai.

Still, if I had to choose between the 249 and this 721, I would go for the 249. Its California dial makes a huge difference, for me, at least.

Best,

Nicolas.

PS: No, no, I didn't take this one from Mahesh. Just the 372 for one month.  wink

372 and now 721, two of my favorite Panerai ... The last one is very addictive !! For the 721 , i advise to change the strap too ... [ Another strap, another watch !!

Sad I let it go...so 721 was the way to compensate (at least I justified it so 😜😈). Best, Mahesh.,

... when it was first announced. It was strikingly simple and bold -- an unusual combination. Despite Sergio's and Perezcope's cautions regarding its checkered past, I loved the design and aesthetics. So I bought one, along with a pre-owned 249. They're pretty different watches. The California dial of the 249 is unique and whimsical. It's an interesting, fun, and unusual watch that wears well, isn't too thick, and has an old school, relatively loud-winding modified Unitas movement. The 721 wears

Winding it takes much more time and effort. It’s more historical but I do appreciate winding the 721 or 662. Much smoother . My father has a 2CV from 1959. Driving it is as well fun and pure mechanics.
