Subexplorer shares his affection for the Panerai Radiomir PAM 190, affectionately nicknamed "My James Bond Pam." He details the watch's elegant design, its exclusive JLC-based movement, and the personal connection to Sean Connery, making a compelling case for its unique appeal.

Hello dear Friends!

I´d just wish to share here one of my favorite Panerai watches.

I affectionately call it, "My James Bond Pam"!

It is a Radiomir Pam 190, a very nice 45 mm version of the classic model. It´s two less mm of case and being of the Radiomir wire lugs, makes for a very compact and comfortable ride on the wrist.

I love its low profile, and find it one of the most elegant timepieces within the Panerai line, with its gold colored hands shining against the black dial.

Regrettably, it was only made in only three years: G series of 2004 550 units, H series of 2005 with 1.000 examples, and I series of 2006 with the last 500 units.
Mine is an H series of 2005.

A very nice (and importan, I feel)  feature of this watch, is its movement which was supplied by JLC based on one of their calibers with manual winding and an 8 days reserve, with a little hand showing the remaining "reserve de marche" through the glass back of the watch. This is a beautiful movement, which gives great enjoyment when winding it so smoothly. Very accurate and reliable and so nice to observe.

I find my Bond Pam very classy, elegant, and suitable to wear with sport or formal clothing anytime!

You may ask why I call it with this nickname as every one knows about Bond connection with the non guards Submariner and never has worn a Panerai!

Fact is that I have been a James Bond fan since I viewed my first film of the long saga in around 1964. And that my favorite Bond actor is Sean Connery.

Some time ago I discovered through internet browsing, that this great scottish actor, now in his eighties, has chosen a Pam 190 for his daily wear. In spite of his age, Connery hasn´t lost a bit of his charm, his class and elegance for sure, even in some candid shots taken to him in his daily activities in N.Y. wearing casual clothing.
And the Pam 190 worn with some fine tan leather straps looks so fine on his wrist!

I feel I render a good homage to my favorite Bond actor calling my own 190 with this nickname. Don´t you think so?
Have a nice week end friends!

Very cordially, Abel.

And of course... The charming Bond look...

With Andy Murray at the US Open...

And enjoying some informal dancing in Bahamas, a favorite stage for some of James Bond films...

About the Panerai PAM00190 - Radiomir 8 Day Power Reserve Ref. PAM190

The PAM00190 represents Panerai's Radiomir 8 Day Power Reserve model within the Radiomir 8 Day series. This reference delivers extended power reserve functionality in the brand's cushion-shaped Radiomir case format, distinguishing itself through its manual-winding movement and eight-day running capability.

The watch features a 45mm polished steel case fitted with sapphire crystal and rated for 100-meter water resistance. The black dial provides contrast within the steel case construction. A fixed bezel surrounds the dial, while the manual-winding movement requires daily interaction from the wearer to maintain the extended power reserve function.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking substantial case presence combined with manual-winding engagement. The PAM190 offers entry into Panerai's extended power reserve complications while maintaining the fundamental Radiomir case architecture. The combination of 45mm sizing, steel construction, and manual movement positions this model for enthusiasts who prioritize mechanical interaction and substantial wrist presence.

The Panerai 190 was the only watch I kept of the original strap in the original configuration. Below is the JLC with the same eight day movement. I think Panerai did a great job hiding the the reserve counter. Abel put the watch near your ear you can barely hear it tick. The JLC Eight Days is also a master piece of elegance and balance while remaining a very sporty watch. Enjoy your 190 it is a real classic. Bill
