In a world often dominated by mainstream horological choices, collector 'ant' reminds us of the profound joy found in embracing the unconventional. His re-discovery of the Parmigiani Ionica in platinum with a deep gray dial serves as a compelling case study for why collectors should occasionally step outside the 'safe' choices and wear what truly resonates with their personal aesthetic. This piece explores the unique design philosophy of Parmigiani Fleurier through the lens of a passionate collector.

Been thinking quite some time to buy one but still haven’t pulled the trigger
at a silly price. That's at least two of us, then! Regards Antony
Yesterday i had a tonneau day. I found an interesting Girard Perregaux Richville and searched much information i could find about the watch. Not owning, but maybe a watch for my collection. And this thread is important. Parmigiani Ionica. The fact i see lugs that do not reject my taste, the typical Parmigiani lugs which i dislike are absent on the Ionica. I do not like sticked up lugs. Sure, it is a brands house style. See a Parmigiani who do not look like a Parmigiani is fine.

Not fashionable. Tonneau’s are a kind of it’s own. Is it a typical watch guys choice? Have a good Sunday Antony.
In my experience most collectors, rather like car buyers, go for what 'everybody else' has. It's safer. Of course, they're right, if one gets an uncommon brand/appearance you are making a statement and going to take a financial hit. But if you love it, who cares what 'they' think? We love what we love because it expresses our tastes. Kind regards Antony
