Evantseng celebrates Australian Day by sharing his acquisition of the Patek Philippe 5164R, his first Patek Philippe. He recounts the urgency of securing a Patek, having missed out on previous opportunities, and seeks community advice on daily wear for such a prestigious timepiece, contrasting it with his well-worn JLC Duomètre.

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut reference 5164 is a travel time model within the Aquanaut collection. This specific reference is identified as 5164A-001, indicating a steel case.
The 5164A-001 features a rubber strap. No further details regarding the case material, crystal, or movement are provided.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking a Patek Philippe Aquanaut with a travel time complication and a rubber strap, suitable for various climates.
If I don’t own any Patek, I don’t know why yours could not be worn on a daily basis. It’s splendid so enjoy it everyday if you want. Best wishes Alkiro

I wear Patek some 360 days a year - just very seldom I take something else. You can easily get your Patek polished. The bezel and clasp lock of Aquanaut are real scratch magnets. My solution is that on normal days I wear mostly 5960A which has a polished case. Scratches do not come so easily. In the office I wear often Nautilus and 5650 (=sister of 5164) is my travel and pool watch. I have a bunch of platinum pieces and those I wear when feeling special. Some meetings or I just happen to feel gr
The clasp already few scratches none of the bezel as yet. Do you know how much to get get the case polish ?
Please note that you can’t polish gold till eternity because each and every polishing removes a little bit of metal. That’s the reason why I mostly wear the steel watches. On the other hand, you can also simply ignore the scratches. Best Kari
I know they can sting when first discovered, but with time all of these "love marks" will add to the character of the watch and remind you of the fond memories you'll carry with you. My two cents 😊
