Emmanuel A, known as 'quattro' on WatchProSite, presents a meticulous visual and technical breakdown of the Patek Philippe Calatrava references 5000 and 6000. This deep dive, while reflecting Emmanuel's personal aesthetic preferences, serves as an invaluable resource for collectors seeking to understand the nuances and evolution of these distinct Calatrava lines. His comprehensive compilation of images and specifications offers a critical foundation for appreciating these often-overlooked models.

To be honest, I personally don't fully respond to the overall aesthetic of this line of Calatravas, but I still found it interesting to go through the whole line.

My favorite here, would be the first one, ref. 5000G, but it's only a matter of personal taste, of course.

Have a great week-end.

Best, Emmanuel

About the Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 6000

The Patek Philippe reference 6000 was introduced in 2005 as a distinctive Calatrava model. It features an off-center dial layout and a date indication around the periphery, setting it apart from more traditional Calatrava designs. This reference offered a contemporary interpretation of a classic dress watch, appealing to collectors seeking a Patek Philippe with a unique aesthetic while retaining the brand's horological standards.

This reference is housed in a 37 mm case, available in 18k white gold or 18k rose gold. It is fitted with a sapphire crystal and is water-resistant to 25 meters. The watch is powered by the self-winding caliber 240 PS C, which provides a power reserve of 48 hours. The movement is visible through a sapphire case back.

The 6000 series appeals to collectors interested in Patek Philippe's modern production that deviates from conventional layouts. Its design, with the off-center time display and pointer date, offers a different character compared to other Calatrava models. The reference was produced until 2009, making it a relatively short-lived model within the brand's catalog.

6000R China 🇨🇳 10th year anniversary. For me, 5000 has a much cleaner dial, just like my 6000R with picket fence hour marker instead of numbers. Just today, I went to my strap shop to try on a yellow strap. Thoughts on brown or yellow ? 😃

Would you allow me to include some of your pics to my thread, with credit, of course (just for the pleasure of having the complete line)? If you prefer not, I totally understand! The yellow works well, it gives the watch a very different look. Given my conservative tastes, I prefer brown, but yellow is very nice and popping too! And the applied hour markers are a very nice touch: what an exclusive piece you have here, 1 of 25! Best, Emmanuel

The latest version is probably the only PP I’d actually consider for myself. But I passed for a couple reasons. Would have been better if they made a 38 mm case instead of 40, 20 mm lug width instead of 22 and a dial matching date wheel (which based on my very limited knowledge of PP, doesn’t seem to be their thing). Overall an attractive piece , and I can see the appeal
