In this insightful post, jlc.thomsen reminds us to look beyond the market frenzy surrounding coveted timepieces and reconnect with the intrinsic joy of ownership. He demonstrates this by personalizing his Patek Philippe Aquanaut Ref. 5167A with a khaki strap, prompting a discussion on how subtle changes can refresh our appreciation for iconic watches. His perspective encourages collectors to find personal meaning and enjoyment, rather than succumbing to external pressures.

Patek Philippe Aquanaut Reference 5167
The Reference 5167 represents the 40mm stainless steel iteration within Patek Philippe's Aquanaut model line. Introduced in 2007 and remaining in current production, this reference features a black dial and establishes the standard sizing for the steel Aquanaut offering.
The 40mm stainless steel case houses the automatic Caliber 324 S C movement, providing 45 hours of power reserve. The watch incorporates a sapphire crystal and smooth bezel configuration. Water resistance extends to 120 meters, while the distinctive composite rubber strap displays an embossed check pattern that complements the case design.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking contemporary Patek Philippe sports watch execution in stainless steel. The 5167 offers entry into the Aquanaut model range while maintaining the manufacturing standards associated with the Geneva manufacture. Its ongoing production status ensures availability through authorized channels for both new collectors and those expanding existing collections.
The painting is by Iñigo Navarro Davila.
This colour is just compelling for the 5167A. I also got a brown and a red, while they were shipping out anyway ( the red one is a gift for my son; we’re sharing ownership of a few watches)
You have one as well don’t you G?
Cheers. 🥃💨 Geross.
I found him difficult to reach. I tried to email him but no response. I bought it through an art dealer 4 years ago. If you want I can maybe find out for you how to see what’s available.
Yes super with the matte finish-(has to be with rubber). And high end material and finish too.
