dr.kol shares his unexpected journey to acquiring a Patek Philippe Nautilus Annual Calendar, a decision influenced by the practicalities of daily wear and the comfort of steel and rubber. His post delves into the rationale behind choosing this specific reference as a 'daily beater,' contrasting it with his extensive Patek collection.

for me!

Till I bought my first Patek Perpetual in the end of last year. A wonderful watch! However, I wear my Aquanaut 5167A more than the other about 10 Patek together and started to think why...

A steel watch is unbeatable on everyday's wear. A water proof watch is great. Even I have for my Aquanaut both the bracelet and rubber strap, the rubber or Tropical strap is the most comfortable one.

Furthermore, if I want to wear a complete calendar, no annual calendar is beating a Patek Philippe Perpetual 3940 / 5140 in elegance. So my conclusion was that a steel annual calendar with rubber strap would be great. Even better if there would also be a leather strap.

So a couple of hours ago I received my brand new Daily Beater:

It helped me a lot to read comments about all Patek Annual Calendars from Watchprosite. So Imran, I'm partly blaming you for this watch!

Time will show how my life with this new Nautilus will be. At least it will make a nice pair with my 3712.

Best, Kari

About the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Ref. 5167

Patek Philippe Aquanaut Reference 5167

The Reference 5167 represents the 40mm stainless steel iteration within Patek Philippe's Aquanaut model line. Introduced in 2007 and remaining in current production, this reference features a black dial and establishes the standard sizing for the steel Aquanaut offering.

The 40mm stainless steel case houses the automatic Caliber 324 S C movement, providing 45 hours of power reserve. The watch incorporates a sapphire crystal and smooth bezel configuration. Water resistance extends to 120 meters, while the distinctive composite rubber strap displays an embossed check pattern that complements the case design.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking contemporary Patek Philippe sports watch execution in stainless steel. The 5167 offers entry into the Aquanaut model range while maintaining the manufacturing standards associated with the Geneva manufacture. Its ongoing production status ensures availability through authorized channels for both new collectors and those expanding existing collections.

No, I believe that this is a watch I can wear on daily basis. My GO Senator Perpetual is doing the same trick but Patek is slimmer and a more "unique" design. I plan to wear this also on holidays and see how it works as a diving watch. Best, Kari

Anyhow, I will not use this watch for wreck diving and if the watch starts to i.e. leak, Patek's service will surely fix it! In the end watches are made to be used. Best, Kari

my eyes the most beautiful AC of Patek. I just have too many watches made of gold and platinum and I wanted a nice watch for my leisure time. Best, Kari
