Top 10 Reasons to Start Posting on PuristSPro

If you have found us and are reading this then more likely than not, you’ve landed yourself into a very special group of individuals. Welcome!

Although the rest of the world may not understand why you frequent the watch stores at the mall, take more pictures of your watch than you do of your family, will discreetly try to see the timepiece the guy next to you is wearing and can spot an Offshore in a 2 second clip on the TV screen …we can confidently say that WE UNDERSTAND.

We want you to make yourself comfortable, read all you want (the hundreds of thousands of pages of content if you like that span over 15 years!) and definitely encourage you to join in the discussions or start one of your own.

Don’t worry about asking stupid questions or not knowing much about watches. Neither did any of us when we first started.  It’s ok if you aren’t the best writer, make spelling errors or aren’t grammatically proficient. Two thirds of our audience is made up of non-US residents so they wouldn’t be able to tell anyways.  (just kidding)

So please post, introduce yourself, offer your opinion, show off a picture of your new watch or ask a question. We’d love to hear from you. And to give you a little added motivation, here are 10 great reasons to do so.

10.  Learn more about the watch you are wearing and watches in general. Find out about the movement, the history or connect with others who might have the same watch. If you have a question, any question that has to do with watches in some way, chances are there is someone in our community who knows the answer.

9.  Get help and advice on difficult buying decisions. Maybe you are trying to decide between two watches to buy or whether or not to sell one. Maybe you already decided and just want confirmation that you're making the right choice. Perhaps you are looking for a special gift. Our members will offer their honest and humble opinions to help you out.

8.  Posting requires minimal physical exertion.

7.  It can be a good distraction or escape from the daily stresses of life. Work getting to be too much? Wife nagging? Hop on your computer and give your mind a break while you engage in some pleasant and mind-enriching discussion for a change.

6.  Get in with the watch brands and manufactures. The more you post, the more people will know who you are. You might just get invited to a watch event, factory tour or be one of the first to see a new release. You might meet and personally speak to CEOs, executives and watchmakers.

5.  You might help to influence the design and development of future watches. Many professionals in the watch industry frequent the PuristSPro site and read our posts and articles. If you pose a suggestion or point out a flaw and others agree, someone from the brand might actually be reading, take note of it and take it into consideration going forward.

4.  Help a fellow Purist. Just as you may find helpful tips and suggestions from the posts of others, the same can hold true when others are helped by what you offer in experience and knowledge.

3.  Discover a place where you fit in. You may find that our community shares your passion and understands your thought process and feelings when it comes to wristwatches.

2.  Make new friends. This is one of the greatest rewards of engaging in discussion on PuristSPro.

1.  It might change your life, in a good way. I started posting on the PuristS/PuristSPro close to 10 years ago. I sought out posts that I felt I had something to offer even though I barely knew anything about watches. They were short comments and slowly became longer responses. Then I wrote my first watch review on a Bell & Ross. I was pleasantly surprised by all the great comments I received. I continued to write more articles and reviews, developing a writing style of my own and realizing that I wasn’t half bad at it. I never had an inkling that I could write anything but today, I write for a living and it has become my daily profession. So indeed, PuristSPro changed my life and I did discover something about myself that I didn’t know before.

Perhaps you can too!

Excellent summary on the reasons which are behind our love for this virtual home of ours! PuristSPro website has some excellent connections with the Watch Industry, and through the events organized by the brands, the members of our Community can chat with CEOs, Watchmakers, Designers and so on... This is an unique opportunity to have a direct relation with all the actors of this incredible world. I agree on a very important point, too: Through this site, we built some strong friendships. Am sure our new members will be encouraged to make their first few posts. I definitely agree with your listed benefits of posting. Esp on making new friends (some have become very dear to me personally now), asking questions and learning and also getting to know brands' senior executives (I never imagined Mr Alexander Schmiedt, who is Montblanc's global Managing Director for their Watch category, would write a personal note to me posted on the Montblanc forum thru Mike our MB moderator). Thanks for reminding us why PuristS is such a great community for watch lovers. We are a relatively rare species, but the Internet brings us together. And interacting on many topics, not just watch related ones, is where the greatest rewards come from. I am conscious that there are thousands who log in and read PPro regularly, but only a small proportion contribute by starting threads or commenting on the conversations under way. Can I encourage all of you to post a few words, add to a thread an

Talent and skill is needed to sum up the issue so nicely, with humour and great accuracy as you did. I cannot believe that you had not thought about writing professionally before you joined the PuristS community. anyway, I am glad you did, so we can profit from your abilities. I am convinced that there are many other talents out there, and it would be great if some of them took your excellent pleading as a stimulation to step out from anonymity and silence. Regards, Marcus
