Andrew H (219) revisits the Richard Mille RM014, a timepiece he first reviewed at its 2006 launch, now presented in an all-black ocean racing machine aesthetic. His post delves into the evolution of this under-rated reference, highlighting its new materials and design elements inspired by modern yachting. Andrew's insights provide a comprehensive look at how Richard Mille continues to innovate, blending haute horology with high-tech materials.
Richard Mille RM002 Tourbillon
The RM002 represents Richard Mille's tourbillon offering within the brand's numbered reference system. Produced from 2002 to 2010, this reference features a skeletonized dial construction that exposes the mechanical elements beneath. The RM002 designation places it among the brand's early catalog entries.
The 39mm titanium case houses the manual-winding RM002 caliber, delivering a 70-hour power reserve. The skeletonized dial allows visibility of the movement architecture, while a sapphire crystal provides protection. Water resistance extends to 50 meters, and the watch is completed with a rubber strap. The fixed bezel maintains the case's streamlined profile.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking Richard Mille's interpretation of the tourbillon complication within a titanium sports watch format. The eight-year production run from 2002 to 2010 establishes its position as an early series offering. The manual movement and substantial power reserve cater to enthusiasts prioritizing mechanical engagement over convenience features.
for a review of a watch from a brand that most watch loving people are dying to own. Looks like RM 014 is a state of the art watch representing the sophisticated sport of Yachting. Very interesting facts about the watches technology of desing as well as new technologies used in Yachts. This watch is about very desirable lifestyle!!!!! and still today I like it a lot. There are just so many details I love and the latest version shows even more superb details. In a perfect world I would order the first version (with rubber strap), while waiting for my Perini yacht and after some time of ownership I would like to add the all black version. But in reality I can´t afford it - unfortunately :-( Still it is (always) good to have dreams! :-) Thanks for sharing, Andrew! Oliver
Thanks for posting and the best thing about it is the larger case, I loved the 14/15 but once you were used to the larger models they felt too small - this addresses the matter nicely! Is it a limited piece please?
But I was hesitant because I did not have a matching yacht! :) Yeah... right! If I win the lottery - watch first, then yacht! Thanks Andrew H
perhaps it might one day be the other way around! Until then, I am in the same boat as you!! :) Thanks Andrew H
do like the new materials. The RM002, RM027's and the RM038 were ideal size in my book. But then, no two WIS are the same! Thanks Andrew H
