In this insightful article, holdemchamp1225 shares his acquisition of a Roger Dubuis Sympathie bi-retrograde moonphase chronograph, offering a rare glimpse into the brand's early independent era. His detailed observations highlight the exceptional quality and craftsmanship that defined Roger Dubuis's initial creations, setting them apart from later Richemont-era pieces. This piece is a valuable resource for understanding the historical significance and enduring appeal of early Roger Dubuis watches.

Either I grew a ton of hair on my arm or Yokozuna stole my watch ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

Just received this Roger Dubuis Sympathie bi-retrograde moonphase chronograph in RG. It's a 1st gen (2nd edition) which dates back to 2000 when Roger Dubuis was still an Independent and still head of the company. A few years later, he sold the company to the Richemont group.

These early examples are exceptional in quality having had both the Geneva seal and being Observatory Chronometer rated from Besanรงon. From my recollection, Roger Dubuis himself worked on the early examples which have his signature on the sapphire case back.

It uses a Lemania based 2310 caliber but reworked and finished to the highest standards at the time. I would even go so far as to say it is better finished than my PP 5070G and VC Malte Chrono which use the same movement ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

Iโ€™m wearing the entry level OP today... With the famous little Blue Box as backdrop....no wonder this one already got the nickname, itโ€™s close but slightly different

With my phone, the quality of the photo does not do justice to the stunning movement. Maybe with my DSLR one of these days or just with natural lighting ๐Ÿค” I really like the signature on the sapphire crystal case back ๐Ÿ‘

Believe me, the finishing is on par with Lange or better. I louped the movement many times since receiving it and it is beyond a Patek 5070 and VC Malte Chrono IMHO ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
