Arie - Mr Orange provides a recap of the 'SAHH 2015' event, a Dutch equivalent of SIHH, where he explored new collections from various luxury watch brands. He shares his impressions on specific models from Jaeger-LeCoultre and Montblanc, highlighting design elements and personal preferences.

It was that time of the year again that we get a small Dutch SIHH called SAHH. Obviously I did not decline the invite from my watch supplier....

They showcased the newest collections of:

- Audemars Piguet
- Baume et Mercier
- IWC
- Jaeger-LeCoultre
- Montblanc
- Panerai
- Piaget
- Richard Mille
- Vacheron Constantin

Only had limited time because of other plans. For a camera I had my iPhone so I only took 3 pictures of some watches I liked seeing. And because of the camera quality I did not take a picture of the most expensive watch I saw live so far: The Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle 14-day tourbillon openworked. The picture would not have done the watch justice. It's an amazing little piece of many many many hours of highly specialized work. Hardly can read the time however. But I'm not sure if that was the goal ;-)

Jaeger-LeCoultre

The Grande Reverso 1931 Seconde Centrale. I have always loved the Reverso collection and I have wanted one for years, but once I put it on the wrist I just don't like them (on me) anymore. So sadly they are not for me. This reverso is a watch with vintage aesthetics as Jaeger calls it. The lume looks 40 years old. New old patina so to speak. Once I owned the Tribute To Deep Sea (eu). Lovely watch. But I traded it in because in the end I kept having the feeling: it's not the real deal. So since then I decided never to buy a re-edition or tribute again.

Well here it is (and as I look at the picture I think: I want one!):

Next is the Master Calendar. A true dress style watch. Case is 39 mm diameter and 10,6 mm thick (ok could have been thinner for true true dress watch but it is good enough). It's one of those designs that is just right. But if you are younger I find it a bit too classical. Now there is a solution for that 'problem'. The Master Calendar with Meteorite Dial. Normally I am really not into meteorite dials (they look hideous on Rolex) but this: I like it! It makes the Master Calendar a bit more playful and young without being unfaithful to the original design. Haven't seen the steel case but I can imagine that it will be a bit cold? The rose gold however gives the cold space-grey meteorite dial warmth.

(yeah I know: iPhone pic but this really is the rose gold case)

Montblanc
And last but not least the most interesting value for money complication watch? The new competitor for the Patek Philippe World Time? Does Patek need to watch out? ;-) Lets just say one thing: the Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum really is a bargain (and the long model name comes for free). It felt cheap as well. If I pressed the 'country' button everything shook an trembled on the dial. But this was the first test-production (or whatever the Montblanc dude called it) model so that's why.

It should be available in September and by that time it also should be a solid watch. Just because of the price asked for it by Montblanc this is a watch seriously to be considered buying. Fun complication for even less then a Submariner. And for that you get a watch that will show you light and darkness travel over the world real time. How cool is that?

The steel bracelet: I do not like it at all, it should be on a leather strap. Maybe even on a NATO from time to time. Fun watch for a fun price. Hell, come to think of it: maybe I'm even going to order one.

Thanks for your post, Arie. I was on to correct the title, till I read the content, and the reason of the SAHH name... ;) There are many things to say about that Reverso. As for the Montblanc, I agree with you. This is a very interesting offer. With some cool featrures, and for a very interesting price. Best, Nicolas
