In this insightful post, jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) brings together three generations of green Rolex Submariners, offering a unique side-by-side comparison that highlights the evolution of these iconic timepieces. His detailed observations on the new 41mm Kermit ceramic, alongside the 40mm black Sub-C date, provide valuable firsthand impressions for collectors considering the subtle yet significant differences in wearability and aesthetics across the Submariner line. This assembly of green Submariners underscores the enduring appeal and subtle refinements Rolex has made to one of its most recognizable models.

Kermit to Hulk to Kermit ceramic.
Met up with a collector friend yesterday to assemble this trio.

Also another side by side shot of my new 41mm Kermit ceramic with my 40mm black sub-c date. I like that they are slightly different and to be honest , I don’t have a preference between the two watches in terms of case, lugs, bracelet. The new 41mm version wears a tad more comfy probably due to a more balanced weight distribution on the wrist but it’s a slight difference only.

Have a good weekend everyone !

Cheers

About the Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 16610LV

The Submariner Date reference 16610LV, often recognized by its distinctive green bezel, was introduced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Submariner line. This particular reference stands out from the standard Submariner Date models due to its unique colorway, offering a different aesthetic while retaining the core design principles of the collection. It represents a specific period in the Submariner's evolution, bridging classic design with a celebratory touch.

This reference features a 40mm Oyster case crafted from 904L stainless steel, paired with a matching Oyster bracelet. It is equipped with the self-winding Rolex Caliber 3135, a movement known for its precision and reliability, offering a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, and its construction ensures a water resistance rating suitable for its intended use.

For collectors, the 16610LV holds particular appeal due to its limited production run and unique bezel color, distinguishing it from other Submariner Date references. It is a notable variant within the Submariner family, offering a distinct visual identity while maintaining the robust engineering associated with the model. Its place in the lineup is marked by its anniversary significance and its departure from the traditional black bezel.

The green actually looks pretty good, but I never liked the new Pepsi with it's purplish color.

I notice my Pepsi’s ceramic bezel is not always purple. In natural daylight , it can turn more blue (even with a metallic blue like sheen).

I like it though because it’s so classic ! Boring yet I never get bored of it.
