Pingtsai brings to light a unique and poignant open letter from an Aberdeen shop owner to a thief who stole a Triwa Lansen Chrono watch. This post explores the shop owner's candid appeal for the watch's return and the evolving role of social media in community and personal expression, even in challenging circumstances.
One of our followers on Social Media shared this letter with us which was posted on an Aberdeen, UK shop's Facebook page yesterday. It is addressed to the thief who stole a Triwa Lansen Chrono brand watch which is worth around ÂŁ230. The brand is not sold by any other retailers in Aberdeen. The shop owner describes how the thief snatched the watch while she was busy helping customers and then tried to hide the remaining box under some socks. She kindly asks the individual to return the watch without penalty by simply sending it back.

The candid nature of the shop owner along with her feelings and intentions are quite evident in the letter. It is interesting how social media and the internet is used nowadays in this manner to communicate with people, not only friends but anyone and how it is used as a means of expression. And there are very good chances that the person will see the letter. What also comes through in the letter is how the shop owner seemed to be quite attached to the watch. She must have been to go through the trouble of writing it. It appears that the manufacturer has agreed to replace the stolen watch.
The letter is below. Article about this story can be found here.
