Amanico revisits the Ulysse Nardin Perpetual Manufacture Platinum from 2014, highlighting its distinct aesthetic and user-friendly perpetual calendar movement. This post serves as a retrospective on a model that stood out for its cleaner design and unique crown-adjustable calendar, contrasting it with earlier and later Perpetual Calendar offerings from the brand. It underscores the watch's significance as a 'last of the Mohicans' in a particular design era for Ulysse Nardin's perpetual calendars.

It has been a long time we didn't see this watch, unveiled in 2014, much wiser than the former ones, the El Toro, and even before the Perpetual GMT.

Cleaner case and dial, less original hands. But always the same friendly movement which allows you to set the calendar forward AND backward, THROUGH the crown.

It came in other dial variations, in blue and in black.

43 mm case.

Since then, Ulysse Nardin came back to the roots, with the Classic Perpetual, wiser, smaller ( 41 mm ) and more affordable, as a bit below 20, 000 Euros, in steel.

So the Perpetual Manufacture from 2014 seems to be the last of the Mohicans, for the Perpetual Calendars from Ulysse Nardin.

But it is something apart, in terms of friendliness and aesthetics... No moon phase, very pure look.

Best,

Nicolas

So Sweet...

... So beautiful. Question: Does the movement allow for the watch to be adjusted backwards? It is a GMT, after all. - Scott

A very good review and breakdown of the UN GMT Perpetual

Hi Scott, if you ever wanted a really good insight into the UN GMT Perpetual, check out M. Hanke's "Tales from the crypt: In-depth review of the Ulysse Nardin GMT Perpetual" - can be found on this forum. A really good review of the timepiece. Kind regards, Ed.
