Swaye, a discerning collector, shares his immediate connection with a new Urban Jürgensen timepiece, highlighting its unique appeal and exceptional craftsmanship. His initial impressions delve into the watch's aesthetic and technical merits, from its stainless steel case to the intricate movement architecture by Jean-François Mojon. This article captures Swaye's journey of expanding his horological comfort zone with a truly distinctive independent watch.

As soon as I saw this watch I knew I wanted it. One of the three ADs in the US had one, and the rest is history. Absolutely lovely watch and in stainless, which I appreciated in this offering. Love the Jean-Francois Mojon, of Chronode, movement architecture and sun ray pattern. Rumor has it that Voutilainen did the dial, but I can't find that anywhere officially. The finishing is superb. Hands are next level, a typical UJ feature. The watch wears well, though a bit smaller than its stated 40mm to my eye/wrist. I love it. I tried to take a couple photos in different light and will try to add those to the thread. Might add a bespoke Rousseau strap in due time. Overall, very pleased with this purchase and continuing to expand my watch comfort zone.

Too early for me to say that yet. My Journes are very dear to my heart, but this UJ is very very special. Totally different look. I love them all!

The watch suits your wrist and for me that is what matters most. And did the colour of the dial live up to your expectation since you had never seen it in the flesh prior to ordering it? And you probably know this but Kari and Jean-Francois Mojon were heavily involved with Urban Jurgensen for many years even before the current management bought the company. So I am pretty sure that Kari had a hand in the dial and you may have noticed that even the hands resemble Kari's work.
