Daniel, known as mrds on WatchProSite, shares an extraordinary acquisition: the Vacheron Constantin Harmony Tourbillon Chronograph Ref. 5100S. This article delves into his personal experience with this rare timepiece, offering a collector's perspective on its design, movement, and the unexpected journey of finding a watch seven years after its initial release. His insights provide valuable context for understanding the allure of limited-edition haute horlogerie.

The Vacheron Constantin Harmony Tourbillon Chronograph, reference 5100S, was introduced in 2015 as part of the Harmony collection, commemorating the manufacture's 260th anniversary. This timepiece represents a significant offering within Vacheron Constantin's haute horlogerie segment, showcasing a blend of traditional complications with a distinct cushion-shaped case design. It was released in a highly limited edition, underscoring its exclusivity within the brand's anniversary celebrations.
This reference features a platinum case housing the in-house manual-winding Caliber 3200, a movement developed specifically for the Harmony line. The caliber integrates a one-minute tourbillon with a monopusher chronograph function, visible through both the dial aperture and the sapphire case back. The movement is distinguished by its intricate finishing, including a hand-engraved tourbillon bridge, and operates at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour.
For collectors, the Ref. 5100S holds particular appeal due to its limited production of 26 pieces, its anniversary significance, and the technical prowess demonstrated by the integrated tourbillon and monopusher chronograph. Its unique cushion-shaped case, inspired by historical Vacheron Constantin chronographs, combined with the bespoke Caliber 3200, positions it as a notable example of contemporary high watchmaking and a desirable piece for those seeking rare and technically sophisticated timepieces.
It just a stunning today as then. Wear in good health, Miki
I had this VC also in mind when I went about two years ago ahead to order my mono pusher Tourbillon from MB Minerva - I had no clue that there was still any of these harmonies available. Maybe I would have made a different choice, who knows... I wish you lots of fun with this classic piece, congrats!
I have always loved these harmony cased watches... the unique shapeto me is very VC. I know initially people were not into the size of that case, but it is spot on for you. New in house VC movement shift from lemania and beautiful tourbillon with Maltese cross cage. Tops Thanks for sharing, Kevin
VCs maltese cross tourbillons are so attractive! And the back side is stunning as well, especially with the tourbillon bridge in gold and engraved. An enormous congratulations!
It's an absolute beauty, and you are so lucky it fell onto your wrist, after 7 years of hiding from you.
One of the most impressive watches from VC ...and great looking.
