When I purchased my Louis Erard Alain Silberstein chrono monopusher eaxctly a week ago, there was a gentleman in the shop that was putting down a deposit on the calendar model with a date. These two watches were part of the Triptyque collection but the Regulater model regrettably never made it into Malaysia.  Anyway, we got talking while the AD was robbing us of our hard earned cash and decided that we should meet up for a coffee.

A week later, we wore our new watches and met up for a chin wag that lasted over three hours, something I seldom do.  It was indeed a meeting of minds despite the 31 year age gap - he obviously a lot smarter and wiser than I was at that age and in fact, probably even so now (I am a late starter!)  smile

It was refreshing and very rare indeed to meet someone so young in years who could appreciate the world of independent watchmaking and who was not influenced by the hype surrounding some of the mainstream brands.  This is probably one of the hidden joys of our passion - it brings like minded people together.

And here is the obligatory wrist shot!

I had not expected the company to be as entertaining. Bitching about the crap service offered by the AD was a great appetizer though!

I have been back in Malaysia for four years now after being in the UK for 35 years and I have been fortunate to meet some great watch folk by chance, some of whom have become my closest friends here.

I see this with watches, and with other interests. These various interests have widened my social group and group of friends enormously. And that’s a super cool watch. I’m glad you went for it.
