Description

Sellers Comments:This is in MINT condition but the buckle is in W/G and not Platinum, the reason being, was at the time of my purchase I was not able to afford the cost of a deployant or the platinum buckle.

And for this reason, I am prepared to negotiate sensibly on the price and have reduced the price of the watch accordingly. A platinum buckle can be picked up for as little as £650.00 I believe that this price is now far cheaper then even a W/G 1815 up & down.

I purchased this piece approx 4 months ago from another member on the forum and the watch is in a fantastic condition, which is a credit to it's previous owner.

Prior to me purchasing the piece the case was lightly polished by an Authorised Lange & Sohne service centre, the watch also comes fitted on a new L&S strap.
Since I have had it the watch has only been worn on a handful of occasions.

The piece was originally purchased from an AD in Aug 2008

It comes with all it's paperwork and boxes.

I can be contacted through my email address: tonycharles AT madasafish DOT com

    📖 About This Reference

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Up and Down reference 221.025 in platinum with silver dial adds one of the most useful complications in watchmaking -- a power reserve indicator -- to the 1815 collection's classically proportioned canvas. The "Up and Down" designation refers to this very feature: a display at the twelve o'clock position that shows the remaining power reserve, descending from "up" (fully wound) to "down" (approaching depletion). It is a complication with deep roots in marine chronometers, where knowing the state of wind was essential to navigation and, by extension, survival. The 35.9mm platinum case has the characteristic density of this metal, sitting with quiet authority on the wrist while projecting none of the visual ostentation associated with gold. Inside, the caliber L941.1 provides 45 hours of power reserve, and the dial-side indicator allows the owner to monitor that reserve at a glance. The silver dial maintains the railroad chapter ring, Arabic numerals, and subsidiary seconds at six that define the 1815 family, now complemented by the power reserve arc at twelve. The layout is symmetrical and balanced, the hallmark of thoughtful design. Reference 221.025 occupies a special niche within the A. Lange & Söhne collection: it is a simple watch made slightly less simple, a purist's timepiece with just enough additional information to satisfy the practically minded collector. In platinum, it represents the most exclusive version of this specification, a watch whose material value is deliberately understated and whose horological value is evident to anyone who examines it closely. Ferdinand Adolph Lange would have recognized the power reserve indicator from the precision instruments of his era, and he would have appreciated the refinement with which his successors have executed it here.

My new 1815 up Down Platinum
Just picked up this 221.025 (platinum) to replace a 221.021 (Yellow Gold) that I foolishly sold and missed instantly. I actually prefer the platinum piece and love the weight difference. This one wont be leaving my small collection anytime soon. Best Hank

    Proof of Origin Certificate Authenticity
I need help. I got a good offer on a pre-owned Langematik SAX-O-MAT (308-027). It will be my first Lange so i am very excited. Unfortunately, the watch only comes with the box (the long one) and "Proof Of Origin" certificate. Are these good enough? The certificate looks authentic from the picture bu

Three brothers up and down.... ... here in Tokyo, the very first new 1815 U/D was just delivered to a good friend of mine. Lange fanatic would need no introduction.... from left to right: 1815 U/D Walter Lange LE (WG), NEW 1815 U/D (WG), ORIGINAL 1815 U/D (PT), all with blue hands. As you can see, t

The 1815 Platinum collection is complete
Today was a very important A. Lange & Söhne day. The 1815 reference 206.025 arrived at Degreef in Brussels. This was the only missing platinum in my 1815 collection of Lange watches. Many thanks to A. Lange & Söhne and especially Mr. Jacques Thomas and Mr. Jacques Wittmann of Degreef to sear
