Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Team Alinghi, made in a limited edition of 1300 forged-carbon examples with pvd coated titanium screws and black-ceramic chronograph buttons in 2007. The model was announced by AP on March 2, 2007 at an Alinghi press release, prior to their first defense of the America's Cup they won in 2003. Alinghi succeeded in their 2007 defense, with the skippers wearing an Audemars Piguet all-carbon Alinghi wristwatch, by a mere 1 second over their rivals. The Team Alinghi limited edition was the world's first wristwatch to be manufactured within a forged carbon case and only the second AP Offshore to feature a sailing-inspired 10-minute regatta count-down chronograph, it was also the first AP model to be fitted with a softer vulcanized-rubber strap and the last Alinghi-inspired model released by Audemars Piguet. With rave-reviews for design and use of materials from the moment it was announced, the Alinghi was only offered to select clients and immediately commanded a premium over retail on the grey market. Complete with the original winch-design presentation case, outer card case, instructions, quality control certificate and AP certificate stamped and dated February 2008. Issue number 09XX/ 1300 G case serial. Although only 1300 were manufactured, there are two versions of dial. The original batch released featured a white border around the red Alinghi logo at the 3 position (as found on the model offered). However because the official Alinghi logo does not have a white border, apparently management complained and subsequent batches were delayed with new dials made featuring plain red Alinghi logos. Due to their relative rarity and more balanced design, the white/red logo dials are considered more desirable. This model is the highest issue number I have seen to be fitted with a type 1 dial and was probably requested this way. Offered in excellent 'as new' condition.
