Blancpain Barakuda

Vintage Blancpain 'BARAKUDA'. A recent addition to my humble collection is now ready for a new home, due to an even more recent addition.....I'm pleased to say new additions have been regular as of late . This watch is a 2077XX serial and is a very fine example indeed! The case, bezel, dial and hands are flawless (you may see a spec of dust, but I assure you this is on the crystal only). The watch is 100% original with only one exception, the crown is a later replacement (wish I could talk to the watchmaker that decided this was necessary ), anyway, a near perfect vintage Blancpain in excellent working order. An interesting detail, one can read "Barakuda" stamped in the caseback and this is only seen occasionally, quite a nice detail. Pure hypothesis, but Barakuda is a dive organization that has been around for many years, speciallizing in instruction and dive trips. Could have been that these "Barakuda" were retailed in their locations or perhaps worn by their divers. Whatever the case, assuming there is a connection, it's great to have the caseback engraving! A few additional details: *Case - Original case finish. Do dings, no bumps, no dents, simply fantastic. *Dial - Perfect, some minor loss of lume at 6 o'clock, but IMHO it detracts little from the appearance of the dial. *Hands - Perfect. *Bezel / Insert - Rotates well and completely crack free. *Caseback - Stamped "BLANCPAIN", "Barakuda", and stamped with serial (6 digits). *Movement - 100% original. *Running well, no movement issues whatsoever.
