Hey guys:
This has been a grail watch for me since I first saw
it back in 2008. However, I always seemed to buy something else before
it. Now, all of a sudden, I ended up with 2 of them in 1 week. The
first one I received in a trade earlier this week (and this is the one
that is being listed), and I was ecstatic. I finally could cross the
Fifty Fathoms off on my list of grails. Then, incredibly, my girlfriend
presents me with the second one (brand new) this weekend for my
birthday.
At first, I thought it was a joke...I ran to my safe to ensure the
one I got in trade is still there...and alas, it was untouched. And
then, it started settling in...did I really have 2 Fifty Fathoms? And
the answer is yes - I do.
So, I'm listing the one that I received in trade, since I can/will never sell the one the gf bought for me brand new.
As
you all know, the Fifty Fathoms is perhaps the most prestigious diving
watch out there. This watch is in true 95%+ condition, contrary to
those other watches that look like they've been through Indonesia's
monsoon season and are listed at 95% condition. The watch looks like it
was worn perhaps 5 or so times. The watch looks almost pristine, save
for a couple of extremely fine surface scratches made undoubtedly by
arm hair on the high polish case back. Yes, they can definitely be
polished out - but they're so small (and even tough to capture via
macro photography) that I wouldn't bother.
Of course, the watch keeps excellent time (it sits on an Orbita,
next to "my" Fifty Fathoms). The 120 hour power reserve in-house
Blancpain Caliber 1315 winds smooth as butter. Also, the
sapphire-covered lumed ceramic bezel is amazing - it makes the watch
look and feel like something truly exquisite.
The watch comes with the famous Blancpain sailcloth strap, and the
strap looks and feels brand new. It also comes with the full kit - all
boxes, dealer-stamped papers, hangtags, even an unopened polishing
cloth.
Asking $7,899 shipped CONUS, please add $100 for international. As
always, plenty of references available, and I'm a listed good guy on
WatchNet. Local SoCal deals are welcome as well.
As
for trades, I'm open to mostly anything, but please keep the values
within reason. Here are the watches I'm looking for in particular. Of
course, value can be adjusted with cash either way, as appropriate:
- 45mm Omega Planet Ocean
- AP Royal Oak Offshore Scuba
- AP Royal Oak Offshore Jay-Z
- Rolex GMT II Ceramic
- Panerai 329
- JLC Extreme World Alarm
- Breguet Type XXI on bracelet
- Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver Blue Surf
- IWC Top Gun 46mm double chronograph
- Breitling Emergency on Pro II bracelet
