Description

Well maybe not…. Up for sale, or possibly trade, is a pretty special watch. A Blancpain Le Brassus GMT Moonphase complete calendar self winding automatic watch with opaline dial and small seconds, in solid 18k rose gold and on a beautiful dark brown crocodile strap with 18k gold deployment. This rare and complicated BP67A6 calibre movement (basis 1150) is assembled by hand from 289 pieces and 30 jewels and has a power reserve of up to 100 hours. Model 4276-3642A-55B was made in a limited run of I believe 400 pieces and is an extremely difficult watch to actually try and obtain with second hand pieces almost never coming to the market. 42mm wide and just over 13mm thick this watch has a real wrist presence and with the added advantage of being water resistant to 50m on top of all its other complications! This actual watch was purchased from an AD on the 12th June 2006 and is numbered 391. Having been worn sparingly since the 22mm crocodile strap is still stiff and the watch is free from dents, dings or any scratches to note. Comes with outer box, beautiful inner wood box, manuals, stamped and dated guarantee and even the original Blancpain polishing cloth in its original plastic sleeve. Retail price on this little beauty is just shy of £20,000. The cheapest (and only) one I can find on the net is on ebay for £12,000 and frankly is not in this watches league. Total and utter steal at £9,800 inc insured delivery. Lots and lots of references.

Blancpain finishes the 1315's bevels by hand. Here's why.
Blancpain noted for intricate movement decoration. Recent debate over Cal. 1315. Tim Mosso questions. Exterior angle rounding doesn't ensure mechanical finish. Bevel appearance on bridge doesn't imply mechanized process.

The "Beast"...
... okay, it's actually named Blancpain L'Evolution Tourbillon Carrousel, but given it's impressive technical and visual characteristics, the nickname may not be too far out 😉 During a visit at the Blancpain Boutique in Munich I had a chance to get closer to this very special watch, and I must admit

Baselworld 2013 report: Blancpain
Blancpain at Baselworld 2013 presented by Marcus Hanke This year, Blancpain presented to me only five of its new watches, two of which are breathtaking new complications, however. Therefore, I am posting more pictures per watch. I will start with the watch that has seen the most discussion already,

A Watch For a Tuesday
Ok. Maybe that's a dumb title, but it's what I happen to have on my wrist right now and I feel like posting its photo and the day of the week is as good an excuse as any. This is the limited edition Blancpain Le Brassus Equation du Temps Marchante. It's complications are two fold, or three fold, dep
