📖 About This Reference

The Doxa Sub 300T stands as an iconic pillar in diving watch history, representing the brand s legendary return to horological prominence after decades of dormancy. Originally established in 1889, Doxa achieved cult status among professional divers and collectors through their groundbreaking Sub series launched in the 1960s, which became synonymous with serious underwater exploration. The Sub 300T carries forward this prestigious heritage, maintaining the distinctive design DNA that made Doxa watches the preferred timepieces of legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau and his team. This reference embodies the authentic spirit of tool watch manufacturing, where form follows function in service of professional diving applications. At the heart of the Sub 300T beats the robust ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, a proven Swiss caliber renowned for its reliability and serviceability. This 25-jewel movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, delivering precise timekeeping with a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The 42mm stainless steel case houses this mechanical engine while providing substantial water resistance to 300 meters, making it suitable for serious recreational diving. The unidirectional rotating diving bezel, crafted with precise detents, ensures accurate elapsed time measurement during underwater activities. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the distinctive yellow dial, which features the characteristic Doxa design elements including bold indices and the iconic fish logo. The Sub 300T s collectibility stems from its perfect balance of historical authenticity and modern manufacturing quality. The vibrant yellow dial, known as Professional in Doxa terminology, represents one of the brand s most recognizable colorways, instantly identifiable to enthusiasts and continuing the legacy of the original 1960s models. This reference occupies a unique position in the contemporary dive watch market, offering collectors access to genuine diving heritage without the astronomical prices commanded by vintage examples. The watch appeals particularly to serious collectors who appreciate functional tool watches with proven professional pedigree, making it a cornerstone piece for any collection focused on significant diving timepieces.

The Old Way of Watch Geeks
Vintage watch collecting before modern technology involved flea markets, repairmen, and trust. Watches weren't just assets but companions. Collecting was about a connection to history and craftsmanship, not completing a grid.

Doxa SUB 300T Sharkhunter bites the dust! :)
Another one bites the dust! This time the Doxa SUB 300T Sharkhunter. The Synchron version with meter on the bezel instead of feet and without the Aqua-lung. If I understood Bill correctly, this must have been a watch for the European market hence the meter scale and missing Aqua-lung/U.S. Divers Co.

Brought with me to Haarlem - CYMA SUB 300T
To honour my Oranje friends I brought some Orange dials with me to Haarlem (NL)… One of them was this CYMA SUB 300T: The brother of the more famous DOXA SUB 300T. As many of you may know, Synchron was incharge of CYMA; DOXA and Ernest Borel at the same time... A super cool Orange diver! Best Blomman
