Description

Here is a rarely seen TZF darling watch - these come up 1 time per year for sale and are getting harder and harder to find. That darling status is well deserved. It is plain stunning and looks like a classic vintage chronograph in the best possible way. Cream dial, large crown, mushroom pushers, clean dial layout, blue chrono hands, gold hands and numerals, subtle date, just stunning all around. This watch was made by GP in a 3-4 year period and it is estimated that there are 500 or less cream-dialed ones made. If you google the phrase "girard perregaux 1999 chronograph 4946", the first link is a wonderful review of this watch (with far better pictures than mine here). He says this quote, which is spot on: "The case sides are brushed, while the thin bezel and the upper and lower surfaces of the 21mm-wide lugs are mirror polished. The sapphire case back is also polished and seven screws secure it to the case. The large crown is engraved with "GP". Mushroom shaped chronograph pushers and a high box-shaped sapphire crystal emphasize the vintage feel" --- well put. The hands and numerals are incredible: the amazing heated blue color of the chronograph hand and sub second hands, with the time hands and numerals as a beautiful shade of gold. The crown is large and masculine, and you can set both the time and quick-set date via the crown. The movement is nice to look at through the see through back and the rotor winds smoothly and fluidly. 45 hour power reserve, 63 jewel movement. Keeping great time and very accurate. The case wears like a 40-41mm watch given the long curved lugs, official measurement is 38mm x 13mm and the lugs wrap around the wrist very nicely. Upgraded to OEM GP deployant clasp (this usually comes on a tang buckle). You also get 2 straps: original OEM GP strap and the current strap it's on now. Box and papers as pictured with warranty paper, manuals, booklets, box, there as pictured. I will be conservative and call the condition Near Mint, and as it is a steel watch, it has a few swirls but no major dents, dings, etc, in lovely clean condition. Price REDUCED: $4500 overnight insured OBRO. Willing to trade, although would prefer to trade up (this GP + cash for your watch). I have plenty of references if you need them and over 1500 positive feedback on the big auction site. Wire only, CONUS deal please. My pictures are not very good but I tried! I prefer to take pictures that UNDER-state the watch rather than ones that make it look better.
