This watch is the ultimate –the Porsche of perpetuals –one of a specially commissioned, never to be repeated, limited run (sold-out) of just 20. It’s dressy, sporty & classy, -not flashy. Beautiful, reliable & functional. Wear-anywhere, do-anything. A Porsche, not a Ferrari. More Clooney, Coppola, Pacino, Douglas than Depp, Sheen or S-Dog. It’s a fully contained mechanical masterpiece, self-assured, a Man’s watch. You don’t have to coddle it. Definitely beautiful to look at, photograph and to marvel over but, more than that, -it has integrity, great engineering honest high-performance functionality.
Tucked under the hood, -encased in Stainless steel & sapphire is the venerable, hermetically-sealed Cal 39 engine. And, outside it’s esthetic & ergonomic perfection means you can read it, -actually see & understand the time, month, day & date at a glance in any circumstance or light condition without having to squint or pull out a loupe or wish you were 20 years younger. And, you can swim with it, wear it to the office & in the shower without fear. To me, the moon-phase is just the frosting on the cake, rich blue background with the gold moon and an almost microscopic spattering of tiny gold stars.
This particular watch has been worn about 7 or 8 days a month. I switch between its twin brother & another. It’s LNIB (actually, double-boxed), accurate to about 30 seconds a day –sometimes up a little sometimes down a little. I’m an easy wearer –even in the Summer you’re more likely to see me in long sleeves than not. I take care of it… -no scratches, dings or anything. Includes accessories, $1100 optional SS band & links + never used leather strap w/deployant clasp.
Professionally, I’m an inventor, entrepreneur, manufacturer. I’ve owned perpetuals (incl. Patek’s) but, to me, the Cal 39 Navigator is perfection in a perpetual, the ultimate in engineering, sporty, dressy & in-between, -true functional art. And, don’t get me started on the Cal 100, Nav. Perp. & it’s over-the-top size & dial-type, leap-year indicator!
Give me the sublime understatement of the 39mm diameter & the elegant & wonderfully magical color-changing dot! I look forward to December just to enjoy the precise half & half color & I always look forward to waking up on Jan 1 –when actually, the first thing I do is note the 100% color-shift, –it feels good, it’s reliable & happens every year, -without fail.
Once you own this watch, it is doubtful that you will ever live without it. I’m only selling it because I have a duplicate & frankly the only reason I got this one was because I never wanted to chance having the other one out of my possession. Now, approaching 65 I realize that it’s silly to hoard like that –and one of my sons likes another watch of mine better, so as part of my legacy, I know it won’t receive the appreciation it deserves.
