Description

A pair of vintage Grand Seiko 6245-9001 and 6246-9001 for sale. Asking price is $3600 for the pair OBO if you want to purchase either 6245 or 6246 only.

The 62GS is the first Grand Seiko that comes with automatic movement. Along with 44GS, the 62GS is iconic in terms of its design language. The production of 62GS only lasted for about two years, from 1966 to 1968, with only two major references 6245 and 6246, out of which the later 6245-9001 and 6246-9001 in stainless steel with the GS medallion and the particular dial as shown here is a favorite among GS collectors. The flat mirror-polished hands and hour indexes on a stepped dial, quite unique in Grand Seiko, shine and sparkle under various lighting and angles as you'd expect from such a classic GS. The tall acrylic crystal also plays magic with light projected on the stepped dial, such that the hour indexes subtly keep changing their looks from different angles. The overall shape of the case and lugs is beautifully slim and curvy yet with sharp edges. The recessed crown is only for date and time adjustment. One just needs to lightly shake the watch to wind the watch - Seiko’s “Magic Lever” winding system used in 62GS is quiet and efficient. Compared to hi-beat GS such as VFA, the 19,800 bph 62GS is both practical as a great daily wearer and collectible especially as it's currently undervalued.

The condition of both watches for sale is as follows:
- Dial: pristine
- Case: strong but probably polished, no ding but there are scratches
- Case back: medallion and engraved serial number
- Crystal: a big scratch on 6245 near 5 o'clock index only noticeable when turning that part toward you, many scratches on 6246
- Running condition: good timekeeping

It's really a GS week.... Mind boggling
Hello everybody, Just wanted to share my excitement with you... Although already a very happy owner of a SBGW047 (which will soon adorn my brother's wrist!) and a SBGV011, I couldn't help myself from pulling the trigger for the set, especially as a dealer here in HK could get his hands on one.
