Well, this is just a fantastic IWC 3786--the case alone is probably the coolest thing ever. The design overall is all about hardcore optimum legibility--you can read the minutes on this subdial at a glance. It is the most legible non-glarey dial I have ever owned.The lume is warm and bright and lasting. The timekeeping is near quartz perfect.
This is the ceramic doppel chrono that drove collectors nuts when it came on the scene--they sold out instantly, then reappeared at way over list. There are 1000 of these, only.
There was such demand for them that IWC had to figure out a way to sell more! So they came up with the Top Gun unlimited series. But that version is tattooed with TOP GUN badging on the side and back--and the chrono hands 'form an airplane'.
Because of this bright and busy badging, most collectors find the original version the only one to have.
The original 3786 case is manufactured from a
solid 'brick' of ceramic, a very expensive proposition. It is one solid piece. The Top Gun is
'injected' So with the 3786, you have in many ways, a whole other Beast.
Anyway, I've really enjoyed this watch. I haven't had it very long, but that's only because those Vintage IWC's are calling me!
The case is like new to my eyes. It just does not scratch. I think this is a watch that will look forever brand new.
