IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar

IWC has done a few things to make this limited edition for Cellini NY extra special. First, its massive steel case, as perpetual calendars are almost always in a precious metal case. Second, the black dial features a matte pebbled texture and looks like a a star night. The Portuguese look is flattered by the sumptuous blue and gold moonphase wheel and the simple but powerful touch of red for the “AUTOMATIC”. Plus, the movement has a seven day power reserve with automatic winding.

Case is truly massive at 44mm diameter by 15.7mm high. Front and back bezels are mirror finished (and clean) while case sides are brush finished. The 9 o’clock case side has LIMITED EDITION of 25 engraved. Crystals are domed sapphire in front and flat sapphire in the display back. Lugs curve downward and crown is signed with the IWC fish logo.

Dial is truly exquisite. Black with pebbled texture, with embossed arabic numerals and minutes chapter. Gorgeous moonphase beneath 12 o’clock. 3 o‘clock subdial displays date and power reserve. 6 o’clock subdial has month, above it PERPETUAL CALENDAR is embossed in silver print and adjacent to it is the rare 4 digit year display. 9 o’clock subdial displays day and running seconds.

Automatic IWC movement with 7 day power reserve, skeletonized winding rotor signed PROBUS SCAFUSIA IWC SEVEN (7) DAYS POWER-RESERVE. Movement has 64 jewels and is adjusted in 5 positions.
