Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Home Time Timepiece in Steel Ref. 162 84 20 (leather strap) or 162 81 20 (bracelet version)

Model: Ref. 162 84 20 (leather strap) or 162 81 20 (bracelet version)

USA Retail Price: Ref. 162 84 20 (leather strap) $9,150.00 USD plus taxes or 162 81 20 (bracelet version) $10,700.00 USD.

Asking $5,980.00 USD with leather strap and bracelet.  Please subtract $1200 for bracelet, should bracelet not be desired.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Hometime is designed for the man who juggles a second time zone on a regular basis.  The polished hour hand is your current timezone, there is a blue skeletonized hour hand for your home time.  Should you be at home, the hands are superimposed.  The hometime hand is connected to the day/night indicator and the present timezone hand is synchronized to the date display.  This allows for very practical use of dual timezone timepiece.  Furthermore, few watches that offer dual timezones have a date display that work as intuitively as this one!

WatchProSite Description: Silver Dial with applied Index & Arabic Numeral Hour Markers.. Featuring: the current "Home Time" with the silver Hour & Minute hands. the Blue Hour Hand indicates the 2nd time zone (Travel Time), an am/pm sub-dial indicator for the 2nd time zone located at the 10 o'clock position. Small Seconds Hand located at the 6 o'clock position & the date at 4. Power Reserve of Aprox. 50 hours.

Watch Condition: Watch has been worn, it is in good condition.  Some scratches are present on the case, watch could benefit from a polish.  Watch has never been polished.  No major damage.  Never dropped.  Watch runs well, very accurate, achieves its full power reserve of 50 hours (all recently checked).  Bezel has some small scratches.  Sapphire crystal has no chips, nor major scratches, in very good condition.  Dial, markings, and printings are in excellent condition.  Hands are in excellent condition.  Watch lived in California (low humidity) all its life and was never used in a high humidity environment, thus dial shows no indication of discoloration.

Strap/Bracelet Condition: Ostrich strap has been gently used but still has significant life left, no sweat stains inside.  Clasp is a deployant clasp, some scratches on the clasp buckle.  Bracelet is sold as an optional extra for an additional $1200.00 USD (without leather strap nor buckle).  All bracelet links are present, bracelet is in excellent condition, hardly used.  For the price of three alligator straps, never have to replace the strap again!  Bracelet would cost around $2000.00 USD if purchased from a retailer.  Bracelet is in excellent condition.

Provenance: Timepiece was purchased at an authorized dealer in USA.  Box and papers are present.

A rubber strap makes the Master Hometime an all-rounded travel watch
I particularly like the strap's dark red inner side which echoes the red tip of home time hand

One of the most elegant men of Belgium wears his Master Hometime...
... with a blue Nato strap. And it looks good on his wrist! Ps: when I say one of the most elegant men of Belgium, it is an actual fact stated in a fashion mag! Fx

JLC service - utter disappointment...
We like to discuss watches on this website, but I find it that people rarely talk about the "ugly" side of owning a mechanical watch - the need for servicing. Here's my unfortunate experience I had with it so far (sorry if a bit long)... I own a JLC Master Hometime, purchased it new in 2007 - it was

About the RDM blue hands
I've been planning this text since Wednesday, given the recurrence of the subject and the fact I'm directly interested on it. We know the heated vs painted JLC hands have been the subject of discussions on quite a bunch of threads here. On this one I described how I differentiated one from the other

Thing we do for love: Part #3
We do a lot different things for love… And for our love for watches… When I started with watches my intention was that ALL watches I get should follow me thru my life, for better and for worse… Now I must confess that I have joined the group of us here that give up watches to get another. Sadly. :-(

JLC Master Hometime HI Patrick,

I think you and I may have done a transaction around 8-10 years ago (it was either an AP Royal Oak or a PP Aquanaut).  But, I may be mistaken as it was a long time ago.  Anyway, I have moved to Barcelona, Spain last year.  Sadly for me, I had a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time stolen in a brazen robbery on the street about a month ago.  The good news is that I was unhurt, the bad news is that I lost a really nice watch.  I am in the market for another dual time watch and your JLC Master Hometime looks quite interesting to me (particularly with the steel bracelet that would be a bit more secure for me).  Can you let me know when it was purchased and when it was last serviced?  Also, I have a colleague who currently lives in Pacific Grove, CA and is coming to Barcelona in early October.  It would save us both significant shipping cost and me a large import duty if I had the watch sent to him and he brought it me - would you be willing to ship the watch to him?

Thank you,

Rick
