Description

Here is a Mint Condition Louis Erard 88 Triple Date Chronograph in 18kt yellow gold for your consideration. This SE watch, housing the heralded Valjoux 88 movement is in memory of the late Louis Erard. I purchased this brand new watch through the help of a friend directly from Paul Erard, then President of the Louis Erard company and grandson of Louis Erard. Paul spent three years crafting this exquisite watch after discovering 62 New Old Stock Valjoux movements in their warehouse in 1999. This watch is number 60/62. In case you don't know the history of the Valjoux 88 movement, it is regarded by many experts as the finest chrono movement ever constructed. The watch remains in near mint condition having spent the vast majority of its life as a safe queen. This watch is just gorgeous imho. The step down case is elegant and superbly done. She measures in at 38 mm. How often do you see a beautiful cream dial with applied 18kt gold markers that incorporates a Valjoux 88 movement running a hours, minutes, Flyback chrono hand, chrono functions of small seconds, minutes and 12 hour counter, with day, date, month and moonphase indicators? Count them. That's 10 functions synchronizing all together, running like a fine Swiss timepiece should. The chrono, date and day/month pushers all work perfectly. The split second hand re-sets to zero dead on. Some would argue that when you turn the watch over and peer through the sapphire crystal, the Valjoux movement is more beautiful. It certainly is a work of mechanical masterminding. over, The watch is paired to a rich honey brown alligator strap and 18kt gold signed Erard tang buckle. This watch is complete with all original accessories. Included in this set are: Erard 88 watch, display box, official Certificate of Origin and unused original dark brown OEM strap. If you were to compare an 18kt gold watch with Valjoux 88 movement to its peers for a price point you would find the price in the tens of thousands. This watch was set with a 12,000 Swiss Francs List Price at time of issue of in 2000. Today it would be the equivilant of 20,000 CHF. I am offering this rare and special piece for the fine and firm price of $9,875 plus shipping.

Ok, I give up — how does this make sense?
Louis Erard collaborates with artist Olivier Mosset on an Artistic regulator watch. Despite the unique design, the basic movement and variety of cases may have reached a saturation point.
