📖 About This Reference

The Omega Seamaster 300m GMT, reference 2234.50, represents a compelling extension of the highly successful Seamaster Professional 300m line, integrating a practical GMT complication into its robust diver’s platform. Emerging during an era when the Seamaster Professional 300m had firmly established its iconic status, partly due to its cinematic associations and professional capabilities, the 2234.50 offered collectors and enthusiasts a versatile tool watch equally adept at exploring depths or tracking a second time zone across continents. It shares the fundamental design DNA of its celebrated dive-only contemporaries, such as the reference 2254.50, while adding enhanced functionality for the global traveler. Crafted in a 41.5mm stainless steel case, the Seamaster 300m GMT is immediately recognizable by its black dial, which typically features the characteristic wave pattern synonymous with this generation of Seamaster Professional models. Legibility is paramount, with luminous hands and hour markers ensuring clear timekeeping in varied conditions. A date aperture is positioned at 3 o’clock, complementing the main time display. Distinguishing the 2234.50 is its dedicated red GMT hand, which provides a clear indication of a second time zone against the rotating bezel, enhancing its utility for frequent travelers. The watch maintains a professional water resistance of 300 meters, underscoring its diving heritage. Powering the Omega Seamaster 300m GMT reference 2234.50 is an automatic chronometer-certified movement, affirming its precision and reliability to COSC standards. This robust caliber not only drives the time and date functions but also expertly manages the independent GMT hand, allowing for quick adjustments when crossing time zones. For collectors, the 2234.50 stands out as a desirable blend of the classic Seamaster Professional aesthetic with a highly practical complication. It offers the rugged durability and distinctive styling of a beloved diver, combined with the everyday functionality of a travel watch, making it a versatile and enduring piece within the extensive Omega Seamaster collection.

Old man and the sea part 2 - trying to sort my son’s fishing equipment 🎣
Fishing in the East provided a successful, efficient experience where the son caught tons of fish quickly. Trying Mediterranean fishing was less successful, resulting in no catch. The Omega Seamaster 1948 watch remained unaffected.

Vintage watch in need of repair left with local expert after failed service attempt by father, now deceased. Trust restored authenticity to be sourced, but other parts may not be restored. Watchmaker taking time. Two other watches out for service.

Variants of SM Olympic dials include rare XVI dial with pearl dots in yellow gold, most have a brass plate. Some dials may have rings with uniquely colored areas; accuracy debatable.
