CONDITION: PRE-OWNED, COMPLETE, WITH ORIGINAL INNER/OUTER BOX AND ALL PAPERS!
In phenomenal shape for the vintage that it is – just look at the many pics of the actual watch for sale posted. The lug at ‘2’ is a bit overpolished, but not nearly as bad as many examples of that vintage which I have seen. The Mk1 matte dial/hands are original, the crystal may or may not be – but is an authentic Rolex crystal of the correct vintage. Judging from the overall condition of this watch, it’s likely the original one, but we cannot be sure. Crown is nice and tight, crown-guards are thick, lugs have original chamfering. The bracelet is the correct riveted bracelet made for the US market during that period. It has some stretch, as expected. End-links are loose, which is perfectly normal. The clasp has all of the correct stampings for the vintage/market. Spring-bars are firm, so no concern of the bracelet coming off at all. Bezel insert has been replaced, but is a correct one for the vintage. There is another faded bezel insert included, most likely the original one! Mechanically, the watch is amazingly perfect, winds on and off the winder, runs less than 5 seconds slow/day. Date function advances as it should.
Comes 100% complete with the correct inner/outer boxes marked 06.00.06, and all papers in the green leather folder – correct Rolex GMT instruction manual, ‘translations’ paper, ‘auto-lock revolving bezel’ insert and the original green ‘punched’ Guarantee / Chronometer certificate with the original owner’s name and US dealer who sold this watch. Original sale date is March 1976 – it sat in the store for 6 years before it sold.
