Vacheron Constantin Chronograph, RG 4178

FOR SALE Beautiful Vacheron Constantin rose gold chronograph from the 1940’s, Model 4178. Excellent condition. Includes VC box, as shown. (This box is from the 1960’s-70’s and not the original box. Original 1940’s era boxes are extremely rare. There was no box when I bought the watch. This one is from my own collection.) Cal. 13''' 434 nickel-finished lever movement; straight line lever escapement, beryllium balance with timing screws, adjusted to temperature, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring, 19 jewels, silvered dial, applied Arabic and dot numerals, outer tachometer scale, inner minute divisions, two subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 30 minute register, circular case, with stepped bezel, downturned fluted claw lugs, snap on back, two rectangular chronograph buttons, pink gold "bâton" hands.18k pink gold Vacheron Constantin buckle, case, dial and movement signed 36.5mm diam. Thickness 11 mm In these photos the watch has a vintage Omega strap. But I can substitute a reddish brown or black vintage Vacheron strap in excellent condition. The buckle is an original vintage rose gold VC buckle. The watch is in overall excellent condition, runs accurately and winds smoothly. The dial, crown and crystal are original to the best of my knowledge and have not been refinished or replaced. The crystal has a few minor scuff marks which can be seen with a loupe. This is a beautiful vintage piece in excellent condition. The price is a reflection of the price this watch reference has obtained at the various auction houses over the last 10 years as well as current values from on-line retailers.
