Vacheron Constantin Malte Perpetual Calendar Chronograph

Extremely rare and extremely fine Vacheron Constantin Malte Perpetual Chronograph reference 47112/000J-8913 in yellow gold. This watch is one of the finest hand winding perpetual calendar chronographs ever produced by any manufacturer, including Patek Phillipe. Based on the legendary Lemania 2310 movement (identical to the Patek 3970), finished to the absolute highest level, and in one of the most beautiful, complex, and unique cases produced. 

In comparison with the Patek 3970, this watch is arguably better in every respect for a fraction of the price. Comparing the movement finishing side by side it is hard to see any discernible difference, and in fact, the Vacheron in some areas is finished to a higher standard. The case work is incredible, featuring an extremely unique and beautiful shape, in a perfect size for pretty much any size wrist (39mm) without being too big. Uniquely it also has a hunter case back which adds considerably to the complexity of the construction as opposed to a plain sapphire case back. Also unique is the solid gold, hand engraved moon phase, which under inspection with a loupe reveals an amazing amount of hand work and skill. The yellow gold case and hands provide perfect contrast with the silvered dial, making this one of the most legible watches of any type. Reading the time/day/date/moon phase is very easy under any lighting condition. Also important to note that although the watch is stated to be "yellow gold" the colour is actually somewhere between yellow gold and rose gold. I would rate it 65% yellow/35% rose. 

I am the original owner of this watch, and have worn it very sparingly over the last 12 years, averaging just 2 or 3 times a year over that period, for a total of less than 30 times. The watch is in beautiful condition (Near Mint), and shows no major marks/scratches/dings. A brand new black crocodile strap has been installed by Vacheron, and also included is a brand new dark blue crocodile strap. The straps alone cost $352 each ($704 in total) purchased from the New York Vacheron Boutique. The watch is 100% complete with everything as originally purchased.
