Zenith Class El Primero

Purchased in late October 2011 rom an AD and worn only 5-6 days max., my fickle eyes are now looking elsewhere and selling this is to fund that.

If you are a Zenith fanatic, you know that this piece pays tribute to Charles Vermot, the man who saved Zenith's famous El Primero. In 1975, the market was flooded with cheap, quartz movements and mechanical watch sales were in decline, so Vermot had been ordered to destroy the tools and components used to make it. Instead he hid them, and the El Primero legend lived on.

Issued in only 1975 pieces, My AD could not locate one in the US and had to go all the way back to Switzerland get me this one. Took almost two months to get.

Housed in a 42mm ss case, this marvelous El Primero movement is buttery smooth and drop dead gorgeous to look at through the display back. Check out the beautiful signings on the rotor, the crown, the buckle and the hands.

Comes complete with all boxes, papers and remaining warranty.

MSRP has been quoted up to $8500, but I also heard some have been tagged below that. Online sellers that offer to sell it normally show it out of stock and available on "special order".
