United StatesFor sale here is my extremely-rare Zenith 146 chronograph. This one likely needs little introduction, as it’s a true iconic chronograph from a company which was doing some of its best work in and around 1960 when this watch was created.
The movement is Zenith’s caliber 146 HP. If you’re unfamiliar with the history of this movement, Zenith purchased a company by the name of Martel Watch Company in 1960, and with it obtained their capacity to produce high end chronograph movements. Following the acquisition, Zenith continued to produce these movements until the launch of the famous El Primero automatic movement. The caliber 146 is Zenith’s successor to the movement formerly produced by Martel for Universal Geneve (known as caliber 285). The 246 iteration in my timepiece is designated 146-H, which was the version for a tri-compax chronograph.
The case is perfectly-sized at 40.5 mm without the crown. The case, case back, movement, bezel, hands, dial, etc. are all original on this one. As you can see from the scans, the watch is in fantastic shape for its age – just a bit of patina, which looks great on the timepiece.
Not much more I can add on this one. These are extremely sought-after and quite rare, and for good reason.
Priced at $1,750 plus shipping (only seen a couple for sale over the years, and they went for more than this price). Plenty of references if necessary.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.
Thanks.
Darren
