I, myself have seen this too. I have been up to the Chopard boutique on Madison ave. NY and have inquired about it. Of coarse the girl that is in the boutique really didn't want to be bothered with my inquiry and had the response. 'I don't know why, the one I have here has the dial colored backround on the date' 'I can't really tell you' Great job lady, wouldn't want you to do some research and find out.
Do mean to say that Chopard arbitrarily picks a white dialed date and sticks it on some pieces and not others. I FIND THAT QUITE HARD TO BELIEVE. How could one justify the Sport 2000 as a high end piece and classify it as a limited edition if they would have no rhyme nor reason of putting a white date on selected watches.
I'm sure there is a logical answer out there and 'so I guess, it happens' doesn't satisfy my curiosity.
