‘1’ Robert and ‘1’ Stephen: Greubel Forsey make their debut at SIHH
Greubel Forsey made their debut at SIHH opposite one other debutant. Being only 9 months since last years Basel Fair, there were not quite the fireworks from last March. However, Robert and Stephen never disappoint and this SIHH was no exception. There were different models of existing watches, but there were inventions in the cases that indicate the possible shape of things to come. You can never tell with Greubel Forsey. Research is not a product orientated end goal; rather, research is an end to itself. Inventions are put through the EWT with the goal of learning about the invention, rather than producing something for sale. The invention might be used, might not; but you never know what you might learn along the way. Such an approach is truly laudable, and defines the Greubel Forsey approach: the attention to detail and finish the inventions that are a step forward and not some sound bite for the marketing.
It was great to see both Robert and Stephen at SIHH. In but a handful of years, a small partnership now has a booth in the main hall, and is one of the firms that attracts attention for what will be on display.
Enjoy!

Andrew, I can admit to admiration for the microengineering explained by G-F. Well, at least for the Forsey part because I've never met the Gruebel portion of the partnership. I can relate to the scientific testing of hypotheses with reproducible test cond...
