“Cool” is obviously subjective
What’s cool and what is not is obviously very subjective, but also subject to crowd think when others just follow the trend or follow the group into thinking some object, person, place etc is cool.
I’ve always found Urwerk just plain “cool”. Cooler than MB&F, even though I have a strong love for MB&F too.
Maybe that is in part because “cool” often necessitates not trying too hard and if one was to look at Urwerk and MB&F side by side then for sure MB&F gives off that “trying too hard” vibe ! (Please take what I’m saying with a pinch of salt folks. After all we DO want our watch manufacturers and indies to try bloody hard!).
I think “cool” also necessitates often being a little less flashy, and little more understated even. Not something that immediately stands out. This Urwerk, and many of the catalogue when I think of it fit this description.
Anyway, just some random musings on the first Monday morning of a summer vacation (I don’t have the Urwerk with me, this photo is from last week).

with your observations. Urwerk is my second favorite independent, after Stepan Sarpaneva, and obviously in a completely different context to Sarpaneva. Highly avant garde, yet understated at the same time! Thank you for the pictures, cheers, Filip

I fully agree with you. A Urwerk is cooler then a HM or LM although i love these watches.
But a UR is more under the radar and maybe more cooler imho
